View Full Version : Carnival Master Card Rewards?

I am currently booked on a group cruise in January 2005. I will have enough points accrued on my Capital One Master Card to redeem a $1,000. cash voucher. I contacted the TA handling the group to make sure the voucher would be accepted for this cruise. He said he couldn't say for sure without actually having the voucher (or confirmation number with all the info) in his hands. I don't want to redeem the voucher (as it's good for a limited time period) if there is a chance they won't credit it toward the final payment.

I've used them before, but my regular TA (this is booked with a different TA because it's with a group) usually doesn't credit me the entire $1,000 because it effects his commission. That is fine with me; I still wind up getting about $900 taken off the final payment.

Does anybody have any suggestions on how to handle this? Don't want to redeem the points if the TA won't accept it (as it's good for only a limited time period once it is redeemed), but he won't tell me for sure he'll accept it until I redeem it. Kind of a Catch-22 situation.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Hi. When you get your voucher number from Capital One, wait 48 hours then call the Carnival promotions desk directly. They should give you the entire $1000 off (Why get only $900 when you can get the full $1000?). I booked our November 2004 cruise with *********** and used my Carnival points to get $500 off and did this with no problem. Carnival just takes the money off of your the balance due for your final payment. Hope this helps.

Also, I was told by Capital One that if you decide not to use the points, you can get them credited back.

I Thought you had to do it at the time of booking. But I could be wrong.

I'd call Capital One....and ask all sorts of questions. Like the one above.
What happens if you can't use the points for some reason ??

Good Luck.....Let us know what happens !

Yes, you can use your credit when going with a group. I just did it myself. Your TA should be able to do it for you and get the full $1,000 credited toward your cruise. You cannot use the credit for a deposit on a cruise....but can have it applied anytime afterwards, but before final payment. Enjoy!

I have used mine for $500.00 off, but only got $420.00 off. However it was applied right when I called them. If you don't use it , you can call and have the pionts restored on the card.

Hi CSK. I booked our 11/04 Glory cruise through ***********. I called Carnival's promotions desk and got the full value for my voucher, instead of going through the TA and having the amount decreased. Just called Carnival's toll free number and requested promotions and they took care of everything. Why only get $420 off, when you can get $500 off??
