We have a group of 16 cruising this July and were given a group rate. Has anyone ever had this rate and then found out that it has been decreased or is a group rate "etched in stone?"
If anyone out there has any experience with this, please let me know.

Carnival's policy is to not allow price drops for groups.

Thanks Kristi, I know I can always count on this board to answer any questions that I have.

The problem with group rates is that although you get a free berth (cruise portion only) when the price drops the savings per cabin you would have gotten booking individually is usually more then the free berth. Live and learn.

Soem group cruises do not involve gettting a free berth. Some groups and TA's instead of the free berth give the discount across the board or ameneties to all in group. Therefore sometimes it does pay to go in group.

We got an awesome rate as part of group for the 11/11/04 Legend sailing. I couldn't find it beaten anywhere on the net and now the ship is sold out. Which I find odd for such a far away sailing, but it is.

Yes!! Our group of 23 took the diso**** across the board at booking instead of the free berth. We thought the rate was awesome to begin with. After our final payment which was about 2 weeks ago, the price dropped and our TA got us ship credit. We actually learned about the price drop from another poster on this board. I kept telling my Dh that I was being "productive" by reading this board. He didn't believe me until now!! We were given the choice of an upgrade and a small ship credit or no upgrade and a larger ship credit. We took the ship credit because we already had our rooms picked out and didn't want to change them.
