hello all,
we were on the westerdam last year in va cabin in nov.
we are going again this october someone just told me theres dvd in the va/vb room. is that true??????? we didnt have it last year.

No. We were on the Westerdam im May VC 5021 adn we did not have a dvd, cd or vcr. Just a TV.

I thought I had read that the Noordam had DVD's in all their state rooms. Can anyone confirm that? We are taking our first Hal cruise in November in a VB for 10 days.
I learn something new everyday on this board. Everyone is great! :)

Not that I've stayed in every cabin on the Noordam ;) , but my basic outside cabin on that ship did have a DVD.
I think the difference is that the Noordam was introduced with all the bells and whistles, whereas the previous Vistas were not. Those ships have to be upgraded; I believe that process is still incomplete.

So, it would "appear" that all cabins on the WESTERDAM should now have DVD players. I don't doubt kletskop's posting and wonder if the DVD aspect in the refitting of ships to upgrade them to the Signature of Excellence features has gotten delayed??? From the wording in the brochures kletskop's cabin should have had a DVD player since May of 2005!
I, too, am curious to find out the "reality" of the DVD players on the WESTERDAM as we are cruising in October with 8 people in our group in various cabin categories.
I also have a DVD question: We don't have a DVD player at home, so I'm wondering if regular music CD's can be played on a DVD player. If so, I won't have to be lugging my CD player with me on our cruise...one less thing to pack is a "good thing"!

No DVD or Cd players on the Westerdam. Perhaps in the suits only? I read somewhere that at this time the Westerdam was the exception. There are no flat panel TVs like all other vista ships, because the W-dam is so new that they did not want to take out the standard tvs yet. All other vista ships have been refurbished with all the goodies. The W-dam does have the great matresses, but this was already standard on the W-dam, unlike the other 3 vista ships
