What is the Difference between the categories? VH,VF,VE,VD,VC,VB,and VA? I see no difference, so why would the prices all be so different?

Maybe someone can just give me a brief overview of the different categories? Just for future reference :D

When you look at the deck plans, you will see the verandah cabins are on different decks. They also are further forward or aft, above lifeboats, beside glass elevators, etc. They also may be above or below certain areas of the ship that may be noisy at some time of the day. Locations near elevator lobbies are also considered undesireable by some folks.

As with real estate, and as Roz has stated, $$$$ value depends to a great extent on location. Me, if I can be on a verandah anywhere on the ship, I'd be a happy camper. And, no, I don't get seasick (at least so far),so far forward or far aft would be fine with me.

Roz said it best;) When picking a V cat, choose the cheapest then move up till you find a loation you would except. Or just keep the cheapest. The cabins are all exactly the same. Some balconies are ever so slightly wider by a foot or less.

Let me butt in here for a sec... most of the balconies have plexiglass railings, but some way up forward by the pointy end are solid, and when you are sitting on the balcony you cannot see out.

Carry on.

Thanks. We don't sale Westerdam until January so Maybe you can send her up after the holidays.

Right now, we're keyed up about Freedom of the Seas, which we sail in 30 days. We already have a great corner aft for that one. They'd need to move me to an owner's suite to get me out of there!

Candy, that is very true I forgot about those darn forward balconies, but like I say you start out with the cheapest then move up to where you will be happy.:D

Candy, we would love to see you at one of our LV Get Togethers. I know it is not the Zuiderdam but we can talk about her;)

I thought location was the difference. I just didn't understand why location was soooo important. After looking at the Noordam deck plan, 5065 seems like its in an awesome location, but it is still a meesly VF...I guess I lucked out :D

Thanks everyone for clearing this up. I would suppose the difference among the suites is the same too - location.

5065 seems like it will have lifeboats sticking out in front of it, from the deck below. I would guess that's why it is a VF.

Actually the life boats are just below the balcony yes they stick out a bit but do not obstruct a view unless you wan to see the water directly below. When we first started to cruised we were in these cabins two times and never had a problem with the location.:)

That's good to know. We shied away from these because the deck plans (and the cabin's VF rating) made it seem like it would be an obstruction.

Although nobody likes VD, the VD cabins & balconies are quite romantic. Check out Noordam's 4 VDs behind each elevator bank, before & aft of the hump (deck 4). The balconies of these cabins extend about 2.5ft further than the rest of the ship. You can stand at the railing, twirl around & look UP at everyone else aboard. Of course, they can all look DOWN at you. Don't stand at the railing nekkid.

We only heard normal hallway noise, meaning verrrry little. If I was standing at the closet just inside the cabin door, I might be able to hear the bing-bong of the arriving elevator car. That's about it for the elevator lobby noise. We were pleasantly surprised.

The balcony is mostly covered, except for that extra space. The view is completely unobstructed. We liked our cabin so much, we booked the same one again for January. ;)
