we live MUCH too far away from an ocean---the cornhusker state of Nebraska. I wonder, could we possibly be any more land-locked than we are??? http://messages.cruisecritic.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_confused.gif Yuck! If it weren't for a career here that I really love, I'd be hanging out in Florida or Hawaii year round!

Grew up in Philly, now I live 6 miles from the beautiful coast in Southern Maine.
It's nothing short of breathtaking here...but man, the winters are LONG!
After our youngest starts college, (2 years from now) we'll be doing more vacationing in the late winter/early spring to get a break from the cold during those long winters.

I live in Snellville, GA (Home of Diana Degarmo from American Idol). It's a suburb east of Atlanta. Maybe Diana will win and put Snellville on the map, but I have a feeling Latoya will. She's great. Oh, we're also home of Matt Lindahl a competitor on Nashville Star.
I love living within driving distance of ports. I would like to avoid airports. Oh, this is a true story, (y'all have to put up with this, remember, I'm from the south). We used frequent flier miles to fly to Orlando. Well, I live about 45min. from the airport. Then we had to get there 2 hours in advance because it was peak flying time. The flight was 1.5 hours plus time circling. Add to that the time at Orlando's airport getting luggage and renting a car. By the time we made it to the resort, we could have driven in less time!

Bevo, I was born in a small town - Columbia, near Hattiesburg. I lived there, Vicksburg, Brookhaven, Gulfport, and Biloxi. My parents were divorced, so I felt as if I was always moving. Dad is still in Columbia. Was just there in November to show my new hubby where I grew up at. Mississippi is always in my heart and a great place to visit, which I will do more frequently now since I will have a baby. I love Orlando though, and will probably never move far from here.

BrendaB1: If you come to Snellville, you'll have to visit Stone Mountain Park. It's a State park 5 miles from here and it's beautiful. There's not much to Snellville. Just miles of the usual strip shopping centers and car dealerships and, oh yea, signs that say "vote for Diana". We have lots of trees though, "achoo", did I mention that Atlanta's the pollen capital of the world? Bring allergy medicine. Where in Snellville did your sister move? And my goodness, what in the world brought her here?

I just realized you are from Brandon. Been there too. Use to have a modeling teacher there. Lost track of her though. Small world we are in.
I think MS is very much under-rated. DH had never been there and loved it. The hospitality really blew him away. He is a FL boy! http://messages.cruisecritic.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

The D/W was born in Luton England and I was born in Nashville, Tenn. When I got out of the USAF we moved to sunny Ft. Myers Fl. We tried Daytona Beach and then West Palm Beach and the last 20 years we have been back to lovely Ft. Myers where we live, I work, and we sail from when we get the opportunity. By the blessing and Grace of God we have been able to put a few trips under our belt and pray we will be able to do some more.

Glad your "Florida Boy" liked MS. Most people do if they just give it a chance. They are always surprised to find our roads are paved (well, most of them http://messages.cruisecritic.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif) and we don't have swamps in our backyards with alligators in them! Now, I do have to say that LOUISIANA has the swamps! (But not all of it is swamps!!!)

We're in a village just north of Glasgow, Scotland and we actually saw the sun today, a rare thing in Scotland at this time of year. Still it'll be back to the cold and rain tomorrow. That's why we love to cruise in the Caribbean. Cruised the Med once. That was OK but not enough of you guys from the USA to have fun with!

Kiraley,
Welcome home to Michigan! It is a small world - we knew Eastpointe when it was East Detroit, but we're too young to remember it as Erin Twp. or Halfway! Still go to Villa's for Italian food or O'Hara's for corned beef.
As much as we love the four seasons of Michigan we'd rather be away on a cruise during the winter months!

We live in Oak View, CA., which is next to Lake Casitas (one of California's premier bass and catfish fisheries), just south of Santa Barbara, and fifteen minutes from the beach in Ventura. Very quiet and easy-going.
We like to take our motorhome to one of the nearby beachside campgrounds and spend days and days taking it easy. Because we are both retired, we are always looking for cruise to go on.

Born and raised in St. Charles Illinois. Lived one year in Lake Orion Michigan. Dad was transfered back to St. Charles back in 94 and have lived there since.
