Looking into sailing the Pride next year. Several folks have told me that the ride from LA to the Mexican Riveria is rocky causing the ship to rock 'n roll. Help this east coaster out by sharing your Pride experiences!

I'm leaving for Long Beach in the morning and am also curious about the motion of the Pride. I've heard a lot about this and am a little worried. Can anyone shed some light on this matter? http://messages.cruisecritic.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_confused.gif

We sailed on the Pride 3/21. Our voyage South was very calm (and the first day was pretty cool). Our voyage north from Mazatlan was just a little bit bumpy, and from Cabo to LA was pretty rough. I think the Captain said 8-ft swells - but walking down the deck was like hiking up and down hills - most pronounced on the Lido deck - and the dining room (aft) rolled, rattled and groaned during meals.

I'm prone to motion sickness, took dramamine around the clock as a preventative, and never felt the slightest queasy. I noticed that the ship had barf bags discreetly available in public places during that last sea day, though.

The crew said our trip was somewhat rougher than normal - and the rocking is usually much milder.

Wow- let's hope they don't have the barf bags out next week http://messages.cruisecritic.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_eek.gif

I felt motion on the Conquest last year, maybe it won't be any worse than that.

I think I'm prepared, though. We're bringing everything under the sun for motion sickness.

We were on the Pride 4/11 to 4/18. The first day, we could feel the ship's motion from deck 7 and up. I put on my sea bands and my sister-in-law took Dramamine and we felt fine. The next days at sea and to PV, Mazatlan, and Cabo, we were fine (no need for any anti-seasick medication) because the sea was calmer. However the last 2 days of the cruise, right after we left Cabo, it became windier, and the entire ship groaned and swayed noticeably from deck 2 and up. The sea didn't look rougher than the previous days but the ship somehow rocked much more than before. I had to put my sea bands back on and still felt a bit queasy. Luckily, by then, I had gotten used to the ship's motion and my queasiness didn't feel too bad, though reading was out of the question (got dizzy after a few minutes reading from all that swaying ). You can get Dramamine on the ship, from the Carnival crew.

Just got back and the only real bad day was Saturday returning to Long Beach. Bonine/Meclazine was free from Purser and the Infarmary.

Had friends on both RCI Voyager (W. Car. from MIA) and Mariner (E. Car. from FLL) the week of 4/11. Both said there was a lot of strong winds but didn't mention rocking.

hoping for smooth sailing.
