View Full Version : The Little Pink Box

I apologize if anyone has already found this and posted the info but today I went to my local Publix Grocery Store and picked up the coolest thing to take on our upcoming May 6th Sensation cruise. It's called "the little pink box" and it's a little pink box filled full of 3 liters of Sutter Home White Zinfandel, it's really small but it says that one box equals four bottles of wine or 20 glasses. Now, I'm not a fan of wine in a box but I thought this was pretty cool becasue it is a lot smaller of a boz than the other wine in a box, it will fit in any carry on bag or luggage without a lot of room. I will also take three bottles of good wine that we are allowed and hand over to the steward to have presented with our dinner (I understand that they say they will charge a 10.00 corkage fee but they never do and even if they do it will be a lot less than their prices for a good bottle of wine). Oh, and the other good thing is that a certain percent of the proceeds are donated tothe Amercian Breast Cancer Society. What ya'll think?

My hubby is a big fan of Sutter Home White Zin, so we'll definitely try to make room for this. Thanks for the idea!

Alert: Possible stupid question following:
How to keep the Zinfindel chilled? We took bottles on board last month and put 1 at a time in ice bucket (lid of bucket did not fit on well with the bottle in it http://messages.cruisecritic.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_frown.gif ). Said ice bucket was not very large--no way any box of wine would fit in it. And if you brought & filled your own soft-sided cooler with ice, wouldn't the "wetness" of the ice make the wine box soggy over time? ........Hmmmmmm. Otherwise, totally great idea and I'd try it in a minute. http://messages.cruisecritic.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

GREAT IDEA!! You can always have room steward bring ya one of them big buckets they have onboard..and line wine box with plastic bag and set it in the ice that way..our room steward did that on our last cruise for my beer..we just left bucket in shower when we werent using it so it would be out of the way and he kept it stocked the entire cruise with fresh ice!! I am pretty sure the wine box would fit in just fine!!

I think you would be OK just keeping the box at room temperature in your cabin and add ice in a glass when you want to drink it. I wouldnt suggest that if it were a very nice bottle of wine but since it is wine in a box, I think that would work.
