We are looking at the Ensenada to Honolulu for next year. This itinerary has 5 days straight at sea. Is there enough variety in on-board entertainment to keep us happy? You can only watch so many hairy chest, belly flop and men's sexy legs contests.

We just returned from RCCL Serenade S. Carib and was disappointed in the entertainment offered. Both the "professional" and passenger involved activities. This ship seemed to die after 10:30 or so. If I had to be on this ship for 5 days...I would probably jump overboard and swim to HI.

I do have to give RCCL some kudo's...getting on the ship was many times easier. And the pool tables are AWESOME!!!! Their alternative dining is less expensive. $20pp (grat included)vs $25 with no grat included.

Downsides are variety of entertainment, and food. And drink prices are anywhere from $1 to 2$ more than CCL.

Looking forward to replies. I am sure to get flamed if any RCCL readers sneak over to "The Fun Side..."

Until Serenade of the Sea!!!!!

Have you considered on of the cruises (not Carnival) that depart from, and stay in Hawaii?
I also have a problem with 5 days at sea on any ship, but would like to hear from someone who has done it.

We did the Vision of the Sea from Ensenada to Honolou last February. We had four days at sea and it was a loooong time, weather was not really worm enough to be at pool and it was a long time, Also the embarkment in Ensenada was crazy, been on many cruises, but never anything like this, It was a great cruise though and Hawaii was beautiful, but If I was doing it again, I would go a different route and not have all thosse sea days in a row, just my opinion

We sailed on the Spirit last September - Vancouver to Hawaii. Yes, the 5 days was long, but we found that it gave us the time to enjoy things that we didn't always do on past cruises. It also helped that Carnival sat our CC group together in the dining room so we got to know everyone and that also helped pass the time. Days 1-4 were great...day 5 was getting long, but then we had the anticipation of reaching Hawaii - you saw alot of people reading through travel books and making last minute plans for the islands. We would do that cruise again in a minute! (Not so sure I'd want to do the islands first and then 5 days on ship).

We cruised to Hawaii on the Regal Princess in February. 5 days over, 5 days in the islands and 5 days to get home. The five days going over went fast. It seemed as if everyone was excited about getting there. First 2 days out were very cool, then as we got closer the weather got more tropical. The 5 days in Hawaii were great and the 5 days going home were neverending. Entertaiment was ok. Don't know what you'll get on Carnival. Just try to enjoy the cruise.
