Considering this shore excursion. Anyone go on this - was it worth it - was the water crystal clear and the sand white. We went to Trunk Bay on St. Johns and it was beautifully clear and the sand was perfectly white. Could look down standing in 4-5 feet of water and see my toes wiggle.

We took this excursion as we were told going into Belize was a waste of time. We LOVED it. It's like a little Gilligan's Island. Nothing there but a hut with some trinkets, snacks and drinks. The water is beautiful. I don't remember there being any lounge chairs or umbrellas, so don't forget your towels. The snokeling is fun there!

Does the beach have a soft, sandy bottom or do you need water shoes?

I honestly don't remember what the sand was like...but I know I had no water shoes and had no problems.

Yeah, Belize gets a bad rap (not unlike Jamaica, mon), but don't listen to the nay sayers--go and have a terrific time!

Was there any shopping on the island? T-shirts? Magnets etc.?

Just want to bring this up to the top again. We are also interested in Merida, Yucatan city tour. Anybody have any thoughts on this.

Goff's Caye is The most enchanted little place on earth.
There is a little hut that sells a very few souveniers. THe was a woman braiding hair --but not a very good job.
One tip... they will probably ask if there are folks who want to go directly to the beach. Unless you are really into corals, do your snorkeling from the beach. The water got a little rough further out.
We wanted more time on the island.
There is a little stand with BBQ chicken and drinks--and if you are lucky they will have fresh lobsters on the grill as well!
