I can't wait to hear about this cruise. We live not to far from the port under a 1/2 hour for us to drive there. So it sure would be better than driving to Port Canaveral Fla. to take a cruise. Looking into it for our next cruising excursion.
Hope everyone has a great time. http://messages.cruisecritic.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

We're going on the Miracle on 5/23. We, too, hope to see some reviews over the next couple of weeks. We did drive down to the port yesterday morning. They wouldn't let us through the security gates, but there was a parking lot they allowed us to park in and get out and video tape. She's a beauty. Not sure how I'm going to be patient for 4 more weeks!

It was still there at 5:30. We went to a small park just south of the Key Bridge to watch her sail. They were two hours late, didn't start backing out until after 6, and it was 6:30 before the ship went under the bridge. It was worth the wait! A beautiful ship and I can't wait to board!!
Someone at the park got a call from his wife (a passenger on the ship) and she told him an announcement had been made about the delayed sailing--they were still boarding people. Apparently it was pretty hectic. He had dropped her off at 1:30 and she didn't get on the ship until 4:00.
There was also an HAL ship embarking, went out right in front of the Miracle. I guess they aren't able to handle that many people at one time. I checked the port website and Miracle will be the only ship there this Sunday, I hope that makes it go more smoothly for us!!

You must be so excited that your less than a week away from sailing. My group was supposed to be on the 5/2 sailing but got bumped. We're now going on 5/23 which has ended up to work out okay. Hope you'll post a review when you get back...can't wait to hear all about it.

Have fun!

I hope to write a review, I have so enjoyed reading them and feel it is my turn to contribute. The memory isn't quite what it used to be, so I will try to take a few notes to get my facts correct. And then give my impressions, but I have never met a cruise ship that I didn't love!

djmcleod - where have you been???? We've been asking about you on your post: Miracle - Oct 24th, 2004.

Hey, are we REALLY gonna get seasick? http://messages.cruisecritic.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_eek.gif Many posts seem to think so! Let me know. Although I've never been on a cruise ship, I've been on many boats and have never been sick. http://messages.cruisecritic.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

Thanks in advance.

We are leaving on the 17th; this is our second cruise. This time we are taking our kids (4,6,8). Our first cruise was on RCI's Enchantment of the Seas out of Ft. Lauderdale. We live in Maryland, I hope this is our first of many cruises out of Baltimore. Has anyone been on a cruise from Baltimore? How is parking? Boarding?

We took the Legend out of Baltimore last October. It leaves from the Dundalk Marine Terminal. The parking was literally right in front of the ship. They had plenty of people pointing you in the right direction. If you are being dropped off, you have to take a shuttle bus to the ship. Boarding was actually a breeze. It was well organized with plenty of staff available. We had to wait for a member of our party to arrive so I was able to watch the check-in process for awhile. It seemed to only take approx. 15 - 20 minutes at most to check-in. Less when you had all your documents filled out. It was the same for us when we were able to check-in. This was before the FunPass, so check-in should be even faster now. Enjoy the Miracle, the Legend was just wonderful.

There are a group coming on in Sept and Oct from my job. We all want to drive up there from Woodbridge, va one weekend just to see this ship and have lunch at the Inner Harbor.I understand due to security precautions, no one is allowed to drive right up to the ship,(that is the way it should be) but I was wondering where would be a good place to see this new ship? I can't drive right now, but if I can get this info for those driving us, it would be nice.

To Madeline (Karen):
We did Celebrity Zenith out of NYC last Fall and probably wouldn't have had problems if it weren't for tropical storm Marty. While we weren't seasick, many were. It was our first night on our first cruise and there were 11 foot swells (we are told). Sleeping was a problem, though. Tip: If you get seasick and dramamine & bonine don't work--go to the doctor's office on board for the shot. Many told us it helps.

Incharge,

We went down to the port on Sunday to see the Miracle. While they wouldn't let us go through the security gates, there is a parking lot to the left of the entrance BEFORE you go through security. The officer at the entrance let us park in that lot and take pics/video. The ship was right in front of us...we just had to look through a fence. Have fun!

Mindymiss - I just docked in B'more last month on the Galaxy. The easiest way from So Md is to go up Rt 301 to B'more beltway (695) and go east. The first exit after you go over the Key bridge is Broening Hywy. Get off there and the port is just a couple miles up the road. You can see the ship as you go over the Key bridge.
