We are staying in Miami Saturday night before our cruise and we are going to bid on Priceline. We do not know which area to put in for, our choices are South Beach, Miami Downtown or Miami Beach. We figure Miami beach is too far north to bother with (expensive cab fare)so that leaves South Beach or Miami Downtown.
Do any of you know the rough cab fares for Miami Downtown hotels vs. South Beach hotels from the airport and to the cruise pier? We will be two adults with probably only four pieces of luggage and we don't want to spend a ton on cab fares. Thanks.

This is an easy one...3* downtown! You will most likely get either the Sheraton Biscayne Bay or the Hyatt. Both are great hotels and only about a mile from the port. You can usually get a bid accepted for around $35-$45. We have stayed at both and you won't be disappointed with either one. If you want to spend about $20 more dollars try a 4* in the downtown area. The Intercontinental is an absolutely fabulous hotel. All of these are also less then 2 miles from Bayside Marketplace. There you can try Bubba Gumps or Hard Rock Cafe. Bayside sits right on the water and there is always a lot happening there.

Thanks for your responses - but maybe I should amend my question:

What is the cab fare to Downtown Miami hotels vs. South Beach hotels from the airport? And what is the cab fare from each hotel to the cruise port? Thanks again.

I bid for a 3* Downtown Miami on Priceine & got the Hyatt Regancy for $28.00. Our room was on the 20th floor & we had an awsome view.

The cab fare from the airport to the hotel was under $20 including tip & the fare to the port was under $10 including tip.

Hope this helps.

We also used priceline and bid 4*, downtown and 60.00. Got the Intercontinental which was an amazing hotel. Great view of the cruise ships and a quick walk to Bayside Market. Flew into FLL so don't know the mIami taxi fare but our hotel to the port was around $7.00+ tip. If you would like to have a link that shows the miami bay area email me and I will send it to you.(ptshade@hotmail.com) It shows the exact view from the Intercontinental. Have a great cruise!

I think the cab fare from MIA to the downtown area is zoned at $18. Cab fare from the hotel to the port will be between $8-$12 depending on traffic. It really is a short ride but right around the port traffic backs up at the entrance. Whether you bid 3 or 4 star you can't go wrong with the downtown area.

Taxi from airport to downtown is about $20 and to South Beach $25-$30. About $5-$8 to pier from downtown and $15 from south Beach to the pier. Downtown is best. I learned.
