I saw on another post that someone takes pictures of all of their staff, and I hadnt thought of that before. Do you have any must take pictures that you take on your cruises???
I leave Sunday and thought some suggestions might be nice. thanks!

My favorite is the one with the ship in the back ground, the waiter in front of me asking if I'd like another margarita and my toes in the bottom of the picture covered in sand. I told DH that I wanted to remember this view so I took a pic of exactly what I saw from my beach chair!

Photos of people we meet whether we like them or not- anybody we'll be telling a story about later

A shot of the bow of the ship featuring the name of the ship

I always take pictures with the wait staff, cruise directors, the captain and crew at the Carnival past guest party. I also take a picture with Fun ship Freddy on my last 2 cruises. He wasn't around on my 1st cruise. I always purchase the pictures from formal night.

My last cruise, I took a couple of "special" pictures when leaving Port Canaveral. My first cruise left from Port Canaveral in '91 (or so) on The Big Red Boat. Now, 12 years later, I was leaving on another cruise from the same port. I took photos of the old Premier and Carnival terminals. So I have my then and now photos. May sound dumb but it meant something to me and that's what counts...right?

Great idea!
My intro photo for our last cruise was a giant pig I photgraphed on St. Maarten. I wasn't thinking of it at the time but when I got everything developed, it was the only photo that really didn't fit with the rest. Plus, it summed up nicely how we indulged on our first cruise. http://messages.cruisecritic.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Following my son's lead I try to always take a picture of the beach from my lounge and get my big toe in the pic. He always does this and it's fun. Also took a pic of my foot while swimming in St. Thomas to prove how clear the water is...very different from home. We also took our wait staff and our cabin steward. Definitely pics with the ship in the background too. The day my DD and I return from our CTN the Queen Mary 2 will be in NYC, so you can be sure we will take some pics of the "new queen". Have fun. http://messages.cruisecritic.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_cool.gif

Derf,
Perhaps the "funnel" is a male gender term, while twin peaks is reserved for the females.
fun·nel [ fúnn’l ] - noun (plural fun·nels)
1. utensil used in pouring liquids: a cone-shaped utensil with a large opening at the top and a small opening or tube at the bottom, used to guide liquids and other substances into containers
2. chimney: a vertical pipe from which smoke and exhaust gases escape, especially one on a steamship or steam engine
verb (past fun·neled, past participle fun·neled, present participle fun·nel·ing, 3rd person present singular fun·nels)
1. transitive and intransitive verb move into narrow space: to move or direct something into and through a narrow space
an efficient system for funneling crowds through the turnstiles
2. transitive verb concentrate resources somewhere: to direct or channel all of something from one place or use to another
Funds were funneled away from other projects.
3. transitive verb make funnel-shaped: to form something into the shape of a funnel
[15th century. Via Provençal fonilh from, ultimately, Latin infundibulum , from infundere “to pour in,” from fundere “to pour” (source of English found, fuse, and confuse).]

I always try and take a picture of family members standing next to the ship so you can show others how actually big these ships are. It's no SS Minnow anymore!!!!!!!
Don't forget about pictures if any family members are in the finals of any of the tournaments. My hubby got one of me waiting to see if I won the slot tournament and then one after holding my $500.00 and my Ship on a Stick! That's one I would love to repeat on every cruise!!!!!!!

Some of my favorite photos are the scenic, postcard views. I have a wonderful shot of a horse-drawn carriage in Cozumel, with only the ocean, palms, and a ship in the far distance.
I also like to take pictures of locals on the islands. Dancers in the square at Cozumel, little kids playing, waiters and mariachis in restaurants - all make great shots.
Take that camera on deck...you never know when you might see dolphins frolicking in the ocean! I have two terrific shots like that.

We plan on taking a camera and a video camera. The only problem is getting both of us in the shots. Well not really a problem if I take my tripod. I do edit my videos later.
I am trying to decide if I should take the camcorder on excursions, especially the Fiesta Party boat. Of course I don't want to spend my whole vacation video taping. Any suggestions or words of caution from anyone. Do's and dont's.

I've taken my camcorder (as well as other camera) on the past two cruises...and am SO glad I did! The photos are great to have, BUT the video is even better, because you have all the sights, sounds, and action!
I have video of dolphins frolicking alongside the ship, dancers in Cozumel, local children playing, etc. You can't capture moments like that with a still camera.
Oh, and I'm usually a solo cruiser. I've found that fellow passengers and others on the islands are happy to take photos or footage of you. Just ask!

Don't forget your underwater disposable cameras! On the ship, you'll pay double what you could buy one at home for. And don't forget, they're good for "standing in the water where I wouldn't dare take my $450 digital camera" pictures, too. At Stingray City - our guide took a picture of our family holding a stingray, while, unbeknownst to us, the Captain was behind us holding another one above my shoulder - what a great surprise when I got my film back! Enjoy!

What a great thread. We always take a picture of the ship out the back window as we are driving away from the pier. Great as a last photo in your album. I've gotten to where I take photos all around the ship so our friends who have never cruised or are anticipating their first cruise kind of know what to expect. I think on our next cruise I will take photos of the menus that are displayed outside the dining room. We also take a lot of photos on our shore excursions. We have a digital camera and several memory cards to get lots of photos. It's always easy to delete the ones we don't want.

Canon has an excellent underwater case for their PowerShot "S" series of digital cameras, good to 100' (I suspect they probably have similar cases for other high-end cameras). I got some super photos snorkeling, cave tubing, etc. and it is also great for anytime you're worried about rain and being able to use a camera (no worries!) Makes my camera doubly useful on vacations and the photo quality is so much better than disposable underwater cameras.
