How private are the verandahs in the S-cat suites? Are the partitions high? low? Do you feel as tho you are out sitting with your neighbors? Couldn't tell from the HAL website.

Unless you lean way out over the rail, you can't see your neighbors and they can't see you.

The verandahs have high opaque partitions between them, but they are by no means soundproofed. You can definitely hear your neighbors moving around. Just HOW private do you plan to be?
;)
Also a guy smoking cigars on the balcony next to us sent smells drifting our way once or twice.
You can see lots of good balcony pictures on our page of suite pictures:

The partitions begin about 6 inches off the floor and to within a foot of the ceiling. They are private.

they are very private in the fact that you really cannot see anyone beyond yours normally, however, you can hear folks next to you.
If its any consolation... i was able to sunbath on my s suite verandah "au naturale" without any issues. :o
The only thing that was a bit annoying (and i use the term loosely) was hearing others chairs scrape across the floor. I was careful not to move them in such a way that would bother others!

The verandahs on the side of the ship offer a lot of privacy. But, the aft veranda in the corner suites on the Vista ships are very visible. There is a long, but narrow area on the side that is private, but its mostly out there in the open and visible from above.
Hope it helps.
