I am getting ready to book a cruise on the Conquest going out of New Orleans. The stops are Montego Bay, Cozumel, Grand Caymen. Does anyone have advice on excursions to book? I have read a lot of disappointing reviews about Montego Bay... anyone out there have any postitive feedback from there? Thanks for any help...this is my first cruise!!

We're booked on the Conquest on 8/15. I've read a few good things about an all-inclusive deal at Sunset Beach Resort in Montego Bay for $20. If anyone has any comments about that deal, please chime in!!!

Go over to the Ports-Of-Call board and check out Jamaica.I recommend the Barrett Tours. We booked with them last trip and felt very safe and learned a lot about the country.Grand Cayman-do the stingray tours.Cozumel-shop and party if you feel inclined.Read several reviews;do research, and enjoy yourself!

In Montego Bay I recommend asking a security guard at the gate for a good cabbie, and take a tour on your own ( $30 per hour for up to 3 in a cab)

I was on the Conquest 4/11/04.
Didn't schedule anything for Montego Bay.
Got off the ship and there were many tour agents at the port.
We took an hour cab ride around the city.
$30 for three.($60 for two hours)
Had a nice informative driver.
Dropped us off at Marguaritaville. (fun time)
At Grand Caymen we scheduled the stingray city through Soto's website. $24pp
It was a rough day so the ship had to divert to an alternative port. Most excursions were cancelled but Soto's picked us up at the new port. A cool breezy day but otherwise good.
Glad we got to do it....
Cozumel...Scheduled the royal dolphin swim for my daughter from home (website again). We got to watch and photograph from a few feet away. $125
A great excursion for her (14 yrs old).
We paid $12 pp to enter Chakanaub beach (sp).
Rented snorkeling gear for two, $6 each.
Best time of my cruise. The snorkeling was fabulous. Took cheese from the ship. The fish (hundreds) attacked me.
Chakanaub is very nice...Only regrets were we didn't have enough time there..The dolphin swim took approx 2 1/2 hours. Had to wait and look at the pictures they took.
We had a great cruise week!

Husband and I were on Conquest 4/4/04 - 4/11/04 (we were married on the Conquest). I did alot of research through this website before our cruise to get an idea of what excursions to plan. We choose to do the following:

Montego Bay: when we got off the boat we took a bus for a few bucks (I think $3) per person to the shopping district. We did a little shopping and then caught a cab (I think it was $2 per person) to Margaritaville. We arrived at Margaritaville around 11 am, got a table in a good location before the crowds arrived, we spent the afternoon there having a blast (from our personal experience, 6 of the "Incommunicado" drinks they have and 3 margaritas per person will get you drunk...glad we all made it back to the ship on time).

Grand Cayman: Since we did not book any excursions for Jamaica, we had saved finances for Grand Cayman and booked the Stingray Sandbar excursion through Carnival for just under $60 per person. After tendering to shore, we were met on the pier, escorted to a bus and drove to the dock to board boat for excursion. The best decision we made was to book the 7:00 am excursion - here is why: when our boat arrived at the sandbar, there was only one other boat there with about 20 people. Our boat had about 25 people. It was not crowded, stingrays were able to swim freely, and people were not elbow to elbow. Ten minutes before our boat was scheduled to leave the sandbar, I counted eight other boat loads of people (boats were VERY crowded) that had arrived and at least five other boat loads on the way to the sandbar. When all those people got into the water, it was very crowded on the sandbar - it was a wonder the stingrays had any room to swim in the sandbar area. I would suggest going early to miss the majority of the crowds. We really enjoyed this excursion and our boat captain and crew were wonderful. Because we did the early excursion, we were dropped back at the pier with plenty of time to do our own thing. We went to Hard Rock and had lunch and then caught a taxi ($3 pp) to 7 mile beach. Spent the afternoon at the beach, very nice beach. Found a piece of coral that was perfectly shaped like a heart (sentimental to husband and I since we were on our honeymoon). Caught taxi ($3 pp) back to pier and waited in line for the tender - make sure you get back to the pier in plenty of time to catch a tender - took almost an hour in line before we were able to get on tender back to ship.

Cozumel: After reviewing the shore excursion list, we chose to do our own thing and go through Avis to rent a jeep for the day. I believe it was just under $60 for the day including taxes (husband is preferred Avis member due to business travel so we got a good rate). We got off the ship and had to walk a short way to the other pier where Avis is located. Drove jeep to Chakanaub, $12 per person admission and rented snorkeling equipment for $6 per person. The pina coladas are very cute, served in pineapples they carved. The lagoon is nice, the iguanas are huge and we enjoyed our time there. We left and drove to Carlos & Charlie's, had lunch and a few drinks there - may have to wait in line for a table but well worth the wait. Returned the jeep to Avis, walked back to the pier where Conquest was docked - stopped in shopping area, there are a ton of shops, did a little shopping and had to walk very quickly back to boat (spent too much time shopping).

We had a great time, just wish the boat stayed at each of the stops longer...
