There usually is a karaoke night onboard. It`s held in the Crows Nest......jean:cool:

speaking of clubs, what are the choices for the clubs on the ship?

We have been on many HAL cruises and there is always at least one night for karaoke. If there is a good attendance and enough interest, they usually schedule it other times. If it is REALLY popular, they will do a Superstar (American Idol) type competition over a few nights. It is usually done in the Crows Nest but when we were on the NOORDAM in March, the final night was in the main lounge on the main stage. My husband loves karaoke and has participated in a few of these Superstar competitions.

Yeah, I'm a sucker for the stage. Not a great singer, but I can hold my own. I appreciate the information, "Love".

The "disco" is the only club on the Vista class ships. There is the piano bar and a few other lounges but really the disco is the only club, per se... however, all the nights that we went to the disco, we had a great time with the cruise staff and it was always busy!

thanks, lolawiz. Again, we aren't big partiers and my husband sure can't disco!! We usually go to the evening shows and are ready to go to bed after a full day anyway. But if we feel like staying out late, we have an option. We're early morning risers too, don't want to miss those sunrises with a hot cup of coffee in our hands.

my hubby and i are not partiers either, but it was fun going to the "disco" each night to learn a new dance or hear music... one night was 80's night, another was country-western night.
It was a lot of fun and somethinig i will do again in december too

Heck, Lola, you're just a pup! Us "oldies" don't get around as well as you guys do. Looks like from your cruise record, you've hit almost all the HAL ships in the last few years.

If you notice, Lola, that was an Alaskan cruise, so probably a different group of people than those who do karaoke. Most that I've been on have people stand in line waiting to sing. Have a couple drinks and you won't even care.

Don't hesitate in trying karaoke. Everyone is there to have fun. Some are good but the majority are amateurs just having a good time. It is a real ice breaker and you get to know your fellow passengers. Enjoy!!!

Lola, you didn't do Karaoke while you were here? It's a HUGE thing here. People even own their own machines and do it in their homes. All the bars have Karaoke. The next time you visit, you should plan to check out one of our local karaoke bars :D

We were on the Zuiderdam in March and there is their version of Karaoke night that continues throughout the cruise.
It starts off in the Northern Nights Disco lounge which is right by the piano bar, casino, sports bar, Queens loung and down from the Vista Lounge. Everyone is invited to sing that first night and is handed an invitation to participate in their version of "American Idol" complete with judges (people who work in entertainment on the ship).
After the initial night in the disco lounge the show moved to the Queens lounge and trust me it was always packed!!!!!!!! Get there early.
The second night those who show up are then narrowed down by the judges to 10 (as in our case).
Third night narrowed down to 5.
Fourth night down to 2.
Last night of it was held in big showroom.

My DH was the Champion on our cruise and I'll tell you it was a blast!!!!!

Just remember to video tape it yourself because for some reason they can't tape it with the sound. Only bits on ship CD and no sound of singing by guests.

All the times we visited the BI, i never once saw a kareoke bar anywhere!... Even in Kona... never saw one!

In the space of 45 minutes, only 3 people got up to sing and 1 of them sang 3 songs.

Thanks hunzabunz. I'll have to remember that. I'm not sure how far I would get, but I'm a ham at heart and loving singing Patsy Cline stuff. I'll make sure I look for it on the itinerary. And congrats to your DH, that's awesome.

Guess what Vapoopsy?

One lady sang Patsy the 1st night and made it to the final 5. Her sister ended up being the other contestant in the final 2. On a different note if you are a "ham" as I am join up for the show that pax and entertainment staff do I think on the second to last night. You are picked to lipsinc to different songs on the big stage. I was Connie Francis "Where the Boys Are". I can't tell you how much fun we all had.

Can you tell we had a blast on this ship? There were 11 of us celebrating my MIL's 90th!!! Get envolved with what the ship has to offer and you won't have a dull moment!!:)
