I booked a 4A Guarantee.I called carnival today, and I was told if my category 4A is sold out then I can never get a credit for a lower price. Did I understand her correctly? I would appreciate any information that would help me understand the process.

Hi, If you booked a 4a guarantee then you will either get a 4a cabin or an upgrade to another category. They can not put you in a lower level than what you paid for. If all of the 4a's are sold out it seems like a better chance of being upgraded. I booked a 4a guarantee for my upcoming cruise and it looks like I was upgraded to a 5a (it won't be definite until I reach the pier of course). I hope this helps. Susan

Is it safe to say on all Carnvial ships that all interior rooms 4A and above are essitially the same only on different decks? So when you go from a 4A room to a 5A room there is no difference in the size of the room? Is that correct?
And is it possible to go from a 4A Guart. to an outside cabin?

If the 4A's sell out, there shouldn't be a price drop on that category in the first place. I mean, how are they going to sell something they don't have? However, if you see a lower price than what you paid on a higher category, then by all means, you could ask to be moved up to the higher cateory at the lower price.

Hi F5Loar,
The 4a category is an inside no window vs the 5a category that is classified as an oceanview with 2 porthole windows vs a picture window. I believe the rooms are the same size.
Have a wonderful day. Susan

Cruisemom hit the nail on the head. If 4A's are sold out, then No, you can't get a sale price///but you can ask if you can get upgraded. It may cost you a couple dollars..or maybe even nothing. ASK!!

With a GTY, if the 4a is sold out, you will probably get "upgraded" to a B,C,D or E. The same cabin, but on a different deck. Sometimes these "upgrades" are no upgrade at all. Usually the higher the deck, the more the ship "moves". I have only been upgraded from inside to outside ONCE! It was to a 6a outside on the Sensation. I have a CAT 4 gty booked on the Conquest on Halloween. I'll be happy with the inside..but if the upgrade fairy visits....

So all this booking 4A or 6A Guarantee is really a roll of the dice to save a hundred bucks. I think you can book a certain room for $100 more. It's the lowest price Carnvial offers when booking early so you can always book up but not down as you are as low as you can go in price (not counting those upper/lower berth rooms down on the bottom deck). Is Carnvial bad about not letting you know your room number until you get there when you book Guarantee rate?

I'm assuming you booked through Carnival, correct? Do you have a PVP?
Get the deck plans and have them handy.
Call Carnival back.
Tell them you have a 4A guarantee, and now that there seems to be a price reduction going on, you were wondering if you could get upgraded from the cabin you are in..
ask what is the best available cabin, closest to the price you paid and ask them if you could be moved if, after looking at the deck plans, you see that what they offer is acceptable to you.
I'm only assuming that you can move from a guarantee to an assigned cabin...I can't see why you shouldn't be able to.
Let us know how it works out.

You sure can. Last month, when Carnival had their other one day sale, we were upgraded and assigned cabins. This time around, the prices are higher than we paid, so we get nothing further right now.

I booked an 8A GTY on the Legend for June. Price did drop and they are now offering an 8I (actually was 8I, now 8H) for booking an 8A GTY, since there are no 8A's left. I now have an assigned 8I, but continue to be considered a GTY with the possibility of further upgrade to category 11.

Is it true the earlier you book the Guarantee the more likely and higher you will go up?
Is there not a seniority order they use to move you on up?

In 10 Carnival Cruises (several Gty) we've never gotten more than the standard 2 cat. upgrade they offer sometimes at the time of booking.

Actually, I've very glad for you.......Jealous, but Glad !

We just went on the Fascination March 26th, booked a 4-A guarantee through a TA, were upgraded to a 6A. Booked the week before, the TA didnt even know we were getting the upgrade till we picked up docs at the pier.It was our fourth Carnival cruise. We were very surprised.

I now have an assigned 8I, but continue to be considered a GTY with the possibility of further upgrade to category 11.

Please tell me how to do this! My sister had a 4A GTY and was upgraded to a 4E assigned room. She would still like to be considered a GTY in hopes of further upgrades to the possibility of a windor. If she requests to be a GTY again - Would she be considered a 4E GTY now to go along with the upgrade or would she go back to the 4A GTY again?

Thanks for your help!!!!!!

We booked a 4A guar. through our TA for our June 28th cruise. When we got our confirmation we already had a room assigned..R19. When I questioned our TA she said that we got the last 4A guar. for the price we paid, therefore the computer assigned us a room. Our TA checked 15 minutes later and the 4A guarantees had gone up $50.00 in price! I'm just glad were on the ship for a decent price. I prefer mid ship as I always wake up to the anchors being lowered at the ports when were forward or aft.
