WHERE DID YOU STAY IN GALVESTON...

Let me know where you stayed in Galveston before the cruise and what you thought of the hotel. Were there good places to eat dinner nearby? How did you transfer to the pier from the hotel?

We stayed at the Harbor House right at the pier...within walking distance to the cruise terminal, probably a 5 minute walk. We left our car at the well-secured parking lot of the Harbor House. They also let us use their luggage dolly to roll our luggage on...very convenient and easy for us.

There are several restaurants close by and within walking distance. Off the top of my head is Joe's Crab Shack. Also across the street is a Starbucks (my DD's favorite) and several others.

Of course we love the Harbor House..what a treat to watch our ship come and turn around in the harbor! We are already booked for our cruise in November, only because they do book up fast.

Last year we stayed at the Best Western on the Seawall. If you are looking for luxury, this is not the hotel/motel for you. There is a Walmart nearby for last minute cruise purchases and also a Kroger (I think). The beach is right across the street. We will be staying at the Econolodge this time because it is only 3 years old and also close to the sea wall. BOth places will let you park there for free and take a taxi to the pier.

Stayed at the Holiday Inn on the Beach in Nov. Rainforest Cafe is a short walk from the hotel. We drove to the pier and parked.
