I booked 2 cabins to Alaska with a large online agency about 6 mos. ago. I received one set of docs about a month and a half ago. I called the agency right after and said that I had not received them yet and she said that Hal just had not sent them out yet. So today being under 2 weeks before we leave I called my agent wondering why. He called back saying that the reason that I had not received them is because they (Hal) had moved that cabin from inside to oceanview however there was a balance of $600. I told him that this
just didn't happen like this. The ship is full of course. Has anyone ever had anything happen like this before.

This is very strange, sounds to me like somehow the TA screwed up. Maybe someone else here can help you out, but no, I have never had a problem like that before.

Of course I can't say for certain, but as a TA I have never heard of anything like this: I believe somehow your TA is at fault and you should not have to pay anything more. Can you talk to the TAs supervisor? I can only remember one time I screwed up badly (I have screwed up a few times) guess what, we had to eat the difference. I had a client that couldn't decide between inside and outside; they decided on inside, that is how I billed them, but I did type in the invoice outside: well, they waited till after making final payment, brought this to my attention and yes, we paid for them to get an outside. It wasn't much, but it still cost the company and me. These things happen, but the agent should be honest.

I would suggest you call your online TA and insist on a 3 way call with Hal.
That way you'll be able to hear for yourself if the booking agent made a
mistake. And if they did what are going to do to rectify it?
Keep us posted!

Hopefully, you received written confirmation of your booking at the time the booking was made. That, along with your receipt for payments made, should be all the proof you need that the TA made the error and the agency needs to make good on their contract with you.
Step one is to call the TA's agency and ask, calmly but firmly to speak with a supervisor. If you can't get anywhere with that supervisor, ask to speak with that person's supervisor. Persistence pays off.
BTW, I was told once that the supervisor I needed to speak with was in a meeting. Having been brushed off several times, I replied that sooner or later he would need a bathroom break and I would hold the line, on their 800 number, until then. They found that the supervisor was suddenly free to take my call.

Thanks everyone for the advice. When I called back this afternoon they told me that Hal would be sending out the Docs today and that the agency would be paying the difference because somehow they had made the reservation for an oceanview instead of an inside. On my final payment in June nothing was ever stated about a room change I knew nothing about it until today when I checked on the docs. I am just happy that it is all resolved.:)

Glad everything worked out for you. Now you can get down to the serious business of doc dancing and packing. Have a wonderful cruise!
