cruisin on veendam in february 07

we are about to book a 2 wk cruise on HAL veendam and have been doing research on the ship. i found one thing i'm not too clear on.....it sounds to me that the buffet stops at 2 PM and does not reopen until 6. there is also a 'grill-burgers/hot dogs' open from 2-4....question, is it true that there is NO buffet between the hours of 2 and 6 PM?

Yes, it is true. But you can get room service 24 hours a day.

The sandwich bar also stays open after 2:00, as well as pizza and soup being available. The desserts are left out, too. I can't remember if salad fixin's are available.

Even though the full buffet has closed there is still plenty to eat.

thanks for the replys...it helps to hear staight from someone who has been there/done that.
ruthc...you are correct, i've been on 8 cruises and have never had a problem with finding something to eat.
kakalina...wow, 25 days...i'm jealous..have a great time!
p.s. i've done the hawaii cruise 3 times on princess...you are going to love it.

Unless the dining completely changed, the "line in Lido" closes down at 2

the hamburger, hot dog, full taco and pizza bar @Lido pool forward should be open until 5 Veendam

as someone else also mentioned, theere is also 24 hours room service .. IMO room service is usually "very good" to "excellent"

not a chance you won't have enough choices for lunch keeping in mind the line usually opens around 11:30 a.m. and runs until 2 + there's the dining room lunch (usually 1 to 1/2 hours daily)

On our last couple of cruises, salads were also available.

The lido buffet does close at 2:00 - but the soup, salad, and desert part stays open until 5:00, when the Lido reopens for dinner. The taco bar (with both beef and chicken and all the fixings), hamburger, hotdog, chicken, veggie burger, and pizza station by the Lido pool is also open until 5:00. There is also ice cream. There is room service 24 hours a day. Also, at the Explorations Cafe, you can get all kinds of coffee and pastries. Boredom and hunger are not problems encountered upon a HAL ship:)

Are you leaving out of Tampa? We are sailing on the Veendam for 7 days the week of 2/18/07.
