View Full Version : Upgrade with a cabin assignment?

We are sailing on the Glory 7/24. All the quad balcony cabins have been sold out on this sailing for a few months. My question is if we have an assigned quad balcony cabin is there any chance that we could be upgraded to a suite??? When booking a year ago they did not allow us to book a quad balcony cabin guarantee -

If you booked a specific cabin, they will not upgrade you without asking you first. It's possible, but not likely.

Unless your assignment was based on a prior GTY to being with.

Not likely, unless some VIP comes along and ask specifically for your cabin. But, you never know it depends on so many factors. ONe thing for sure, if you do get upgraded, they are suppose to contact you or your TA. I have heard from on these boards that some were and had no idea they were being upgraded. No harm in hoping.

We were upgraded twice when we booked an assigned cabin. Someone stated that they will not upgrade you without asking you first...that was not true in my case; neither time were we asked if we wanted the upgrade. (one time we booked directly through Carnival, the other time we booked through an online TA) So, yes...an upgrade with an assigned cabin can happen. (although it's probably not as likely as when booking a guarantee)

We had a quad balcony on the lido on the Conquest and arrived at the pier and found out we had been upgraded to a penthouse! I guess they felt they did not need to ask!

I wish the upgrade fairy would sprinkle some of that dust on us. We had to take an assignment for the price, but if it drops, this is what I would tell Carnival!

You are welcome to upgrade us to any suite you want! We have an 8A assigned but are willing to move to a suite if you so desire! If someone just has to have our cabin, we will tough it out and take that penthouse! http://messages.cruisecritic.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

I wouldn't complain if they didn't tell us they upgraded us, it would be a wonderful surprise for us. We also have a quad and the extra room would be fantastic!

If you have four, and you are upgraded, you must be upgraded to a penthouse. The suite only holds 3 people. I think that upgrade was very unusual because there are not many penthouses on that ship. I'm betting someone cancelled last minute. Going on the Valor in April but this time we booked two cabins since the kids are getting older - one balcony and one inside on the Lido.
