Here's a hard question for all: I know you can exchange money on board Oceania ships for a 5% fee. Does anyone know if that includes Maltese lira? I've heard that euros or American dollars are rarely accepted in Malta, which I assume would be true, given that they have not gone on the euro yet. I'm thinking of taking a bus outside Valetta, which requires Maltese lira. I don't particularly want to worry about getting a small amount of lira before I go, or hassling with exchanging dollars once I get there. Does anyone know if Oceania can exchange dollars for Maltese liras? Thanks.

When we were in Malta, we found that we could use Euros or dollars for everything except local buses and admission to St. John's Co-Cathedral.

We stopped at an ATM to get Maltese Lira.

There's an ATM just a few steps from the ship. Just make sure you have a ML-USD conversion table so you know how many MLs you're withdrawing from the ATM.
