My DH and I will be sailing to Curacao this Fall. Since we will be in Curacao until midnight, we would like to have dinner locally. I read a while back (maybe last Spring '06) on a post about a restaurant that is located on top of hill in Curacao, that is open for (I think) cocktails and dinner only. They say the view is stunning and the food was good. Can anyone tell the name and location of this restaurant? :)

You might want to post this question on the Curacao section of the CC ports of call forum, if you haven't done so already. More likely than not a CC member will be able to provide the info you're seeking.

Don't forget to be out on deck for sailaway to enjoy the fireworks farewell as the ship leaves port. Have a great cruise.:)

Thanks Southbound!

I actually found out the name of the restaurant on my own. The restaurant name is "Fort Nassau" and I've made my restaurant for a sunset dinner. We'll be back on board for the fireworks!:D

:D If you aren't on board for the fireworks, you will have missed the ship. The fireworks are lit as the ship sails out of port.

We always look forward to seeing the fireworks when we leave Curacao.

What a nice evening you will have. A great dinner and then the fun of the fireworks. Enjoy!!

There are really some great restaurants in Curacao

But, they can be on the "pricey side":(

Instead of heading out @night and winding up with a bill of $150.00 or more (presuming you have an appetizer and drinks), why not think about lunch

there are some great restaurants behind the government offices which are along the harbor

seafood, Italian and Spanish come to mind right away

the cost is a fraction and you can walk from the ship (taxis are also expensive in Curacao)

on the other hand, if the food on board is not up to your taste, I'd recommend you think about going ashore ..

tip on to where to eat: ask the CD or GRM for his/her recommendation; chances are, they'll be ashore if it's a midnight sailing

if the food on board is great, though, and you enjoy your table mates OR wait staff if you're at a table for 2, why do anywhere but to the dining room

such decisions:)

Palm Beacher -- As opposed to being somewhere on the interior of the ship because you weren't aware of the traditional sendoff Curacao has for HAL's ships.

Fort Nassau looks like a great place to have dinner and enjoy the view! Last time we were in Oranjestad, we had dinner at a happening place called Mambo Jambo. It's within walking distance of the dock and has live entertainment and dancing. It was recommended by some of the crew

Hi Everyone,

Thanks for suggestions, they all sound really great. I think we're going to stick with Fort Nassau as we have heard really fabulous things about this restaurant and from what people are telling us, the view is fantastic.

Don't worry we'll be back on board in time to view the spectacular fireworks display.
