I have contacted *********** today, as well as yesterday and STILL have no response. I wanted to upgrade my room. I am getting very irritated! I hope this is not indicative of the type of service they provide, or I will never book with them again. http://messages.cruisecritic.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_mad.gif Thanks for letting me gripe ;-)

Numerous times this week they responded to me telling me that they are short staffed but someone would get back to me on Friday.
Well, it's Friday, and I'm still waiting.

It really is sad what goes on with regard to customer relations and the cruise industry. It is at the point where my local TA won't return my calls with regard to price matching! I do my homework, find a good price and then call him. I try to give him my business, but he won't even given me the courtesy of a "thanks, but no thanks" return call. The economy is what it is.

If a TA responds to every price check he is waisting considerable time that could best be used on repeat customers. He/she knows that many will take their business elsewhere for as little as $30 pp. They know who their loyal and profitable clients are and they will be loyal to them and service them first. Often it's just not good business to give the cheapest price and the cheapest price is not always the best value.

I had a problem with a *********** booking last week and needed it taken care of ASAP. With the exception of their mistake last week, they have gotten back to me pretty quickly. We've used them before and never had a problem, but this time was a little different. Hopefully it's all taken care of now.

This is perfect timing. I'm just now considering using *********** for the first time. I asked for the prices of two rooms. I got a response within the hour. Then I had a question about breaking down the prices for me. NO problem, I had the answer today. But I'm still a POTENTIAL customer, maybe that's why the quick responses, i don't know. I do have questions for you experienced customers. I thought I read something about picking up papers at the dock. Ticketing Fee, Ticket Mailing Fee? Can you explain? thanks, and good luck hearing from them.

dr - They were exceptionally helpful until they had my money in hand. I have not used bestpricecruises.com, however I have found them to be at the same rates of not lower than cruise quick. Some others on the board have recommended them and you can call -- so one bonus. Cruise quick told me that they would express mail the documents to me if they came too late for regular mail. I don't know if Carnival would match their prices, but I have used them for my other bookings and they were very helpful and accomodating.
Hdawson -- this was not for a price check, but for a room upgrade. I also intended on purchasing cruise insurance from them -- which I am SURE there is a huge mark-up on and they would receive plenty of commission. I guess saving a couple of hundred bucks is not worth poor service.

My last e-mail from them was on the 26th to let me know they were mailing my docs. They arrived yesterday. So far they have been great answering my e-mails and yes they often do end up in my "junk" box, even though I've doing business with them for over 2 years now. Now and then I guess my computer decides I don't need a vacation http://messages.cruisecritic.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Still don't understand why anyone would give their hard earned money to an e mail address.
I'd rather pay a little more and speak to a live person.
I would think the reason for no phone is because there really is no staff. Just a 1 person TA office. Why else would they have no phone.
Don t you think your taking a big chance on a company that WON'T talk to you.

No, you are not the only one!! I emailed them yesterday.. at 9:31am... then again at 4pm, and then I was worried that they didn't get it!
They emailed me saying that the person who handles credits had Thursday off.
Today I got a one line email saying my request was being sent to a supervisor.
Up until this point, I have been nothing but satisfied. It's not that I am unsatisfied right now, just a little frustrated.
Let me know how you make out.. and if I get a result, I will let you know too!

Patience, patience, patience..... You all new they were e-mail only so if you need hand holding (i.e. phone call capability) you should use other sources. They are reputable and very competitive. I have found they match prices at an instant if you bring to their attention after your booking. One note: I did notice one of my responses from them was sent to my Bulk folder.... So be careful and don't automatically delete the mail to that folder especially if you are waiting on a response from them.

Nothing to do with hand holding. In my world a reputable company has a phone and is more than willing to talk to me.
Glad you like this TA, but for my hard earned $1000s I want a live person.

I love to Cruise.... I respect your position...However, No one is forcing you to use them...and you have your choice.
I wouldn't question there reputation however bevcause everyone knows (as they adverstise) they are e-mail only!!
I prefer to save some of my hard earned $$ and not pay a premium for TA service. After many cruises....I find no value in TA assistance/help for booking a cruise. I know what I want and I want it for the lowest price...So I am glad there are companies such as *********** which maximize savings on my cruise dollars.

My sisters used them for booking their last cruise (from my recommendation) and they saved $100s on a balcony guar, and had everything on time. I used a regular TA and was verbally abused when I asked to price match! Everyone's experience is different, but personally I don't see a need to pay extra $$ for a cruise if I know what I want and where I want to go.

This has NOTHING to do with hand holding etc.
I am sure MOST People who booked this way realized what they were getting into. *********** for me, has been excellent.
It is just that in the past, I have received a response within an hour. For them to take so long, I realized that there must be something wrong internally, which can happen at any agency.
I am sure the original poster was asking ... to ask if she was the only one having communication issues. I was glad to see her post to realize that it was an agency wide issue with lack of help, rather then an individual one.
For me, I will book with *********** again anyday.

Ah yes... while the cat is away the mice will play. I am sure they are busy, and no I do not need my "hand held". I just think it is convenient that before they had my money they were more than obliging, now I receive no responses at all. I am trying to give them the benefit of the doubt, but things are getting down to the wire for me and I am getting frustrated. I emailed them on Wednesday and Thursday and still have no response. I am sure that they are probably a M-F, 8-5 operation, because the quote system is automated. I have CC'd myself on every email, so I know I am not the one with technical issues. I have also sent messages to them via 3 different email accounts -- just to make sure. I just cannot understand... I want to pay money to upgrade a room, and pay money for trip insurance. Maybe they won the powerball and they don't need my money ? ha! I will give them until Monday at noon, and then it is going to get U-G-L-Y!
BTW... Thanks Catrin for seeing my perspective, as well as the rest with informative info.

I have reviewed 'live human' agencies and for my hard earned dollars, I choose to save literally hundreds, if not thousands of them using an online agency that has been nothing but great. For the family and friends reunion cruise that I am coordinating for this fall, my TA at BPC has saved us over $6000 over the nearest 'live human' agency that I have ever found, and, believe me, I shop aroucnd all over the city and country.
I'm sorry that *********** is having issues, but not all online agencies are going through this. My TA responds to my emails daily, if not hourly.
Good luck and happy sailing,

I always check the prices with other TAs including CQ, the cheapest price I have ever had from them was $30 cheaper for the two of us
then what I paid. For $30.00 I would rather have a TA I know I can get in touch with at any time and not have to wait for an e mail.
Thats how I feel. You feel different and thats fine, I had a problem at the port a few weeks ago and if I had used a TA with no phone service I would have been screwed. So for me, no phone, no booking with them.
