View Full Version : HELP - Docking & Flying Out. Can I make it?
September 4th, 2006, 06:00 PM
DH and I will be going on the Regal Empress on 10/20/06 to 10/22/06 and docking at 9am that Sunday - what is the latest that I can catch a flight out of Ft. Lauderdale? We have never been on this cruise line (won it) and I'm not familiar with their process. Would it be possible to catch a flight at 11am????
Someone please help!

I doubt it. And if you "won" it through a Ramada resort promotion, you need to read some of the stories on this board quickly in case you want to cancel the entire thing before the time limit for that runs out (I believe Florida law gives you 72 hours).

Actually, I did not win it through the Ramanda Inn thing?! I had ordered something online and it came with my purchase. Thanks!

I think 11 is really pushing it. The airport is very close but you leave no time for customs and airport security. Remember Sunday is turn around day for other ships so the airport might be busy. Cabs could be a little slow depending on how many ship are there. On our November cruise there are 8 ships in port that day. I am thinking 12 or later. I guess it could be done if every thing goes perfect.
Congratulations on winning this free cruise. Remember that this is a old ocean liner with some very small cabins. 60 sq ft. By winning this, you might have gotten one of these cabins. If this might be a problem you might want to call them and see if you can upgrade for a nominal fee.
I love this ship even if it is old. We live close and take her on long weekends. Have fun relax and eat some food for me!!!!

Bases5 - Thank you for the information. On my previous cruise dh and I drove to Galveston, so we didn't have to worry about catching a flight. I had read on here that you're not allowed to leave ship till everyone has cleared their tab????? So I was very unfamiliar about the time frame. I do think I will be going with a later flight time!
The cabin that I had was actually small and I did upgrade being that it's my hubby's birthday and all - thought he might like to sleep together and not on the top bunk. I keep telling myself that it's an older ship - I'm not too worried about it though. Can't complain about something you've never done before. Who knows, I may prefer this ship to the bigger ones. Hubby and I aren't into big crowds!
How awesome would it be to live so close to be able to take long weekends on her. Do you happen to have any photos of this ship? If so and if you wouldn't mind - could you please send them to me?? email@example.com
Thanks a million!
PS - I will RELAX and more in likely eat too much for you and me!!;)
