RinaJune, may I suggest some Private tours and things to do on your own. Contact Belinda at
a-zjamaicaplanners.com. She has a complete list of tours and rates. We took the Rose Hall Mansion, Beach, Maragaritaville & Shopping tour for $85 per couple. The van was modern, airconditioned, and our driver was great. They also do Dunn's River and Fern Gully. It does not matter how many people you reserve for, they will be there and stay with you throughout the day.
Grand Cayman; don't miss the Swim with the Sting Rays - Soto, Nativeway, Capt. Marvin or Capt. Crosby do a great job.
Cozumel - just take a taxi $12 each way to Paradise Beach. Lay back and have a great relaxing day. No vendors to bother you.
Bon Voyage

My daughter and I are leaving on the Conquest this Sunday! :) We're going to do all private tours. Sunset Beach in Jamaica is a for sure thing as I've heard good things about it.
Not sure yet about Grand Caymen. My daughter is a bit aprehensive about swimming with the sting rays. We may do a city tour and some shopping. In Cozumel I'm thinking about Paradise Beach and some parasailing, capped off with a little shopping. My goal is to buy a new leather wallet.
I have made any arrangements yet for tours, but I don't think it's necessary. If my daughter gets brave and decides to do the stingray swim I'm hoping we can arrange for it once we arrive. I know Capt Marvin's takes advance reservations, but we're going to play it by ear.
Does anyone have info about taxis in these ports? I read somewhere that there are certain ones to use if possible and to try to pre-arrange a flat rate before leaving.

Thank you. If you are booked on the cruise you can see the prices on the Carnival website. There are too many to copy them all here. If you will post which excursions you are interested in, I'll post the prices. (At least what they say they are for my upcoming cruise.)

For Jamaica, I can't say enough good things about Sunset Beach. It was awesome!! $40 adults/$20 under 18. Waterpark, snorkeling, paddle boats, kayaking, three pools, mini golf. Not to mention all you can eat food and unlimited drinks (yes alcohol too). I would only suggest to stay away from the hamburgers. I had friends that chose Rose Hall Beach, and were very disappointed.
Grand Cayman - Go straight for the sting rays, what a great experience.
Cozumel - Paradise Beach is great if you have kids, Passion Island for adult relaxation.

In Jamica, use only JUTA cabs with the red plates; they are government regulated. And yes, do negotiate a fare before you get in the cab.
Also, for all ports, be sure you carry plenty of small bills for cab fare. Unscrupulous drivers will claim they do not have change, so they can keep the difference.
BTW, great choice with Sunset Beach...I love that place!

I have not been, but I have read that admission to Paradise Beach is free, as are the use of the lounge chairs, as long as you purchase food & beverages while there.
It is $8 for a wristband that gives you access to their non-motorized water sports equipment. There is a lot of info about PB on the Ports of Call section of the boards under Cozumel. Hope this helps! :)

Hi all:
I called Carnival because it says that if one is within 180 days of a cruise they book the excursions (I was at 170 when I called). I was told that they are just now finishing negotiations with the vendors for the end of 2006 and that 2007 will come "some time later". They said just keep checking the website and when the tours go from "View shore excursions" to "Add shore excursions" they will be available. Thye did not indicate when "some time later" would be. But like others, I am booking most of my excursions with private companies. Just wanted to check prices.
