Can anyone tell me what the drinking age on Carnival is? I have been reading that some cruise lines serve beer and wine to guests over 18. Thanks!

The drinking age on all of the Carnival ships is 21. Most of the islands it is 18.

Hope this helps,

It is 21 on the ship. My parents and brothers just got back from the Bahamas on the Fantasy and he is 19. They would NOT serve him any alcohol. He was disappointed but, that is the law. He stated that they were pretty strict in that matter. Maybe the other ships are more leinient?sp I don't know for sure.

Just to let you know. I was on the Pride last Feb. with 15 year old daughter and they served her champagne and wine at past guest party, captains party, and champagne pics.

My younger brother (19) and his girlfriend (17) were taking drinks off trays and enjoying the fun during the past guest party - no one said a word. I think there is such a high demand on the servers at this time that many underage people fall through the cracks.

I noticed on the site that twinkletoes provided that Jamaica is listed twice. Once under no age limit and once under eighteen.

I understood Mexico to be 18, but I overheard a waiter on Paradise beach saying (as he was refusing to serve a girl who was 18) that the drinking age was 21. I meant to ask him about it, but by the time I was ordering my own drink, I had forgotten to ask. Being 34, drinking age no longer comes up http://messages.cruisecritic.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_mad.gif

I'm 60. I tell cocktail waiters that I'm really only 14 but I had a rough life...that's why I'm a little saggy.

In Cozumel or Cancun if you're tall enough to hand the bartender the money you're old enough to drink! At least it sure seemed like that the times we've been there.

I am 24 and look about 16... I get carded regularly for rated R movies here at home. On my honeymoon cruise, I would ask at the bar for a drink, they would ask for an ID (which how many people carry an ID to the pool? Not me!) said I didn't have one but that I was 21 (which I had just turned, so I wasn't lying or anything).... they gave me the drinks anyway without an ID http://messages.cruisecritic.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_eek.gif. But yes, it is 21 =)

So basically I think most any young 'un could get away with it if they don't enforce the ID thing. If I were underage, I sure would have. http://messages.cruisecritic.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

International waters, ships own laws apply. Gambling is the perfect example of them creating their own laws. Plus, their insurance carriers have a big say in what rules apply.

When we were in port, my 15 year old could order a drink and they would bring it. She doesn't take advantage so I let her have some. I was surprised they let them drink but like someone else said if you can reach the bar they will serve you. I think if the drinking age on the ship is 21 gambling should also be 21. They use to be 18 for drinking until someone threw themselves off the back of the ship.
