We've got one booked for my DH next week in Puerta Vallarta. Yeah, it's a little expensive, but I figure how often does he get to play golf in a foreign country. And it's not like he does it every week. http://messages.cruisecritic.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif Also, did you know that you can check out all the golf opportunities through Carnivalgolf.com

My husband has booked golf through Carnival in Jamaica and Cozumel. He booked it himself in Grand Cayman. It's cheaper to book yourself...but some people are uneasy giving out credit card info or are worried about the timing of the ship leaving. The courses are nice, but also expensive. My husband took his own clubs, which took up a ton of room. But, you can rent clubs.

SIL and I just played golf at Playa Del Carmen this past week. What a nice course. Iguana's run wild, along with other assorted wild life http://messages.cruisecritic.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif Cost was $185 through the ship. Expensive yes but played with the ship pro so didn't have to worry about getting back on time etc. Service at the club was great - iced towels after you finish, all you can eat and drink while you are there etc. Again a little $$ but how often do you get to play in the Carribean. We took our clubs and were pleasantly surpised that there was never a problem. Clubs showed up at the room with the rest of the luggage and were waiting for us at imigration on the way back. Overall a very neat expereience.

Thank you all I was looking for some feed back on whether to take clubs or not as DH is very picky left hander so he doesn't want to rent. I think we will go with the ship booking even though it is expensive but I fiqure if we are with the pro he can get us back to the ship in time. Thank you all for the help!! 1 more thing did you book the excursion ahead of time or wait untill you got on the ship?

The pro will have his table set up near the purser's station and you can go there during his "hours" and make your reservations. But, there is also an 800 Golf number for Carnival...and you can make your reservations ahead of time. Then, your confirmation and info on when to meet the group and the pro etc. will be slipped under your door the 1st or 2nd night. It's easier to make them ahead of time...one less thing to hassle with when you board. Hope you enjoy!!!

On Conquest, they had "guilt free golfing." If one person booked a golf excursion, another person in the same cabin received 25% off a non-golf excursion in the same port.
