Someone told me that you can have a camera in your room on a Disney cruise that shows your room on a closed circuit unit you can take with you on the ship - so that you can go out while your kids are asleep. Is this for real, or has my leg been pulled?

I have never heared of that:confused: ?????did you call the DCL and ask them? 1-800-951-3532 That is why they have the kids clubs. How old is your child, can he/she not go to a club, they are open till very late. I have sailed on DCL 5 times and have never heared that and I have 2 boys. I think someone was pulling your leg! But call and check. Good luck:)

Hi, we have been 12 times and never heard of this. If they have it, it has to be brand new.

I believe someone is pulling your leg. If they don't have wireless Internet available shipwide then I doubt they have a camera capability available.

You can buy wireless systems which are like baby monitors, but send video as well. They are small enough to bring with you. I think the range would be very limited on board a steel ship. But even if it did have adequate range, it is not a good idea for children who are mobile.
On a similar note, we thought about letting our 8 yr old sign himself in and out of the club, but have heard of parents going to get their child, only to realize they had checked out already. It took them a while to find the child.
I think gator was thinking (as we are) that it would be better to have the kids sleeping in a bed at 10:00pm, rather than staying up till midnight watching a movie in the kids clubs. We will pay for that the next day with cranky kids. Ideally, we would pay a Disney sitter to watch the kids in our room while they slept.

Thanks for the responses everyone. I looked at the Disney cruise website and saw no mention of it. I also spoke to my wife, trying to remember where we heard it. She remembered - it was from a guy trying to sell us a timeshare. So, consider the source, I guess.
Thanks for helping me clear this up.
