Based purely on size and deck plans, the Zuiderdam SC suites look fantastic. I love an aft balcony, and have yet to make the jump to a suite. The BB (or whatever category they are now :)) balcony cabins on Zaandam have been lovely, but I think I would like a step up for a special vacation. Has anyone been in one of these suites? Are there photos online, or can they be posted here or e-mailed to me? I think trying to get my boyfriend to go on another cruise wouldn't take any convicing at all, and I am more than ready. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! For background, I love HAL and have sailed on Zaandam (as I mentioned). I have been on Celebrity and Princess, too. I actually prefer HAL (although I LOVE the specialty restaurants on the M-class Celebrity ships), and my boyfriend has only cruised once, on Celebrity, and loved it. We are not late night partying people, but love the quiet and the sea and southern sunshine.

Thanks in advance!

My husband and I stayed in a SC cabin - SC5187 - a corner aft suite on the Zuiderdam to Alaska in August. It was a beautiful cabin with a really large verandah. We loved it and would book another aft suite again in a heartbeat. We did take quite a few pictures of it - if I can figure out how to get them on here I will.

Oh, oh! I'm looking at booking that same cabin on the Oosterdam next spring and had some questions the TA couldn't answer. Is there any overhang on the verandah so you're not totally exposed to all the decks above? Not that we're planning any nude sunbathing but I like having some sense of privacy. Also, from the deck plan, it looks like the verandah may actually wrap around to the side of the ship? Can you access the side or is it just the aft portion directly in back that's "your" verandah? I'd also heard the SC cabins on the Verandah deck are slightly larger than those on the deck above. Do you know if it was?

Sail Away-LaffnVegas has pictures attached to her sig of cabin SC5187 on the Oosterdam. They have great detail and you can really get a good look at that great veranda. We have this cabin booked for our Feb '07 sailing on the Zuiderdam. We have some friends who had this cabin on the Zuiderdam and absolutely loved it.

I am in a GUAR SC on the Zuidedam on the 9/23 sailing and can take some pics of my cabin if you like. Not sure what cabin that is yet UGH. But when I signed up the only choices in the SC class was either 6167 or the GUAR.

We're looking at the SC guarantee for a Dec. sailing. Not that interested in the IT, but want to try a different line in a suite. We've sailed Princess several times, and we're looking for a different experience before we commit to a longer, more expensive cruise. I've been doing some research, and I've read several threads on the Zuiderdam. Let's see if I have this right.

I can expect to have flowers, a fruit basket, and access to the Neptune Lounge along with the services of a concierge. The suite will have upgraded bedding and a flat screen TV. I can have breakfast in the Pinnacle Grill (someone else mentioned the King's Room. What is that?) I can have ice cream in a waffle cone anytime or cappucino in the Neptune Lounge for no extra cost. I have access to free laundry. What's not to love?! Did I miss anything? Any suggestions for a cabin if we decide not to go with the guarantee?

I'd appreciate your input.

You can't beat cabin#5187--it is fantastic!!!!! HUGE wrap around balcony. The long side balcony is completely covered.
If you want special cabin, this is a wonderful choice.

I have never heard of the "Kings's Room". As far as Ice Cream in the Neptune lounge I have never seen any ice cream let alone waffle cones. I do think you can get those in the Lido but they do have a wonderful coffee maker along with some snacks under a cool plastic dome.

Sorry, I didn't state that clearly. I was trying to determine if ice cream is freely available at any time anywhere on the ship. On Princess, it is available only in the afternoon for a limited time in the buffet.

Also, I've been studying the deck plan, but I can't find the Pinnacle Grill. Where is it?

The brochure indicates there are four sittings for dinner - two early and two late -5:45, 6:15, 8:00, and 8:30. What exactly does second seating mean? The 6:15 one?

Thanks for your patience with all my questions - and your help!

Request dinner by time and level of the dining room:
Early upper is 5:45; early lower is 6:15.
Main upper is 8:00; main lower is 8:30.

[quote=SanDiego Single]I have never heard of the "Kings's Room".... /quote]

In the "S" class ships (Statendam - Ryndam - Etc.), the Pinnacle Grill was installed in the area previously occupied by the "King's Room" - Adjacent to the main dinning room.
