Hello out there!
I will be a first-timer (next year) on the Zuiderdam and will be taking an oxygen tank (small, in a back-back) should I need it. What do I need to know about the use/storage of o2 on board?
Thanks,
bofus

Howdy Bofus!
Welcome to Cruise Critic and the Help Forum! http://us.i1.yimg.com/us.yimg.com/i/mesg/tsmileys2/04.gif
I fully understand your need to know more information. However, you have posted on the Help Forum where members find information about using Cruise Critic's software. This is not the place for your type of post and the information you seek is off topic. http://us.i1.yimg.com/us.yimg.com/i/mesg/tsmileys2/05.gif
Per our Guidelines and to help you out, I have moved your thread to the Holland American Line Forum where it will be on topic. I hope you will be able to find it in the new location! Your fellow Cruise Critic members should be able to help you with more information there.
I sincerely hope this will be satisfactory and glad to have you aboard Cruise Critic!

I am totally unknowledgeable about oxygen but seem to recall having read here some time ago that HAL (and all cruiselines) require you use oxygen provided by specific companies that they approve.
I think the best way for you to get accurate information is to call HAL Ship's Services at 800- 541-1576.
Please do not depend upon being permitted to bring your own 'back-pack' supply without prior approval. It could prove to be a problem for you.

You may not take your own oxygen aboard. Contact HAL and they will give you the names of companies with whom they work. It is delvered to your cabin by the company. We had this done on the Zaandam a couple of years ago and it worked perfectly and have arrangements to have it on the Volendam in Dec. Good luck and Happy cruising. Sue

You can get oxygen generators or tanks. Call HAL ship services or have your TA contact them to get the local suppliers information.
Not sure on refill of the tanks on board
Good luck

Thanks for your info! Yes I do plan on calling HAL but thought I'd get some hands on as well.
Much appreciated.

Thanks Sue, I rather suspected it would work that way. I will call HAL tomorrow morning and see what's up. We are on a Dec '07 Carribean cruise so we have lots of time.
I sure appreciate the feed back I'm getting.
