I was reading a thread and someone commented that they had a fruit basket in their room that was filled every day. Is that true?

It isn't necessarily refilled every day. It depends on your cabin steward. But generally speaking if you eat a banana, then a fresh banana will be put in the basket either later in the day or the next day.

Yep, I agree that depending upon the steward the fruit does get replaced almost daily. But you can't take the fruit off the ship and I've found that on the last night of the cruise when coming back from dinner we find the bed turned down and the chocolate on the pillows but the fruit basket disappears!

Those pesky fruit basket thieves! Or, maybe its the Leprechauns! :D

Just kidding. I LOVE fruit and that basket will most likely be emptied by DH and me every day

Is that in any cabin? What an awesome "extra".

My bad. I thought we were still talking about the cats onboard.

All cabins. When I boarded the Volendam there was no fruit, but the plates, napkins, and knife were there. The fruit arrived either that night or the next morning ( I forget now). Later I figured that the new supplies took a while to be distributed.

My last cruise on the Ryndam I had the fruit but I didn't see a cat. And the fruit wasn't filled after I ate it. I ate almost all of the fruit by the seond day and it stayed half empty as the banana got a little browner each day.

I hate the thought of cat hair all over the fruit....we all would be hacking up fur balls the whole trip

I think it depends upon which CATegory of cabin you have. Probably a "Fruit and Cat Basket" is one of those suite perks:D

Before each cruise I swallow a little bit of vasoline and it takes care of the cat hair and sea sickness.

Here's one without the Bear's feline. The banana hasn't been replaced yet by Andi

It's provided in ALL categories...............just back from Alaska on Veendam and we enjoyed that fruit, as we always have.
Sure wish we'd have had that CAT in with our fruit, however.........perhaps that's just in the Penthouse so there's a pen when the Steward comes in to clean.
Silly me, first cruise was on the Oosterdam and I just figured it was something that all ships provided..............slow learner..........
we are back to HAL and staying with HAL.:D

I was being silly - we've also had fruit baskets on all of our HAL cruises - I just meant that the "Fruit and Cat Basket" was probably found only in certain Categories. :o

Hmmm...

Looks like Prinsendam
;)

But yes, eat the fruit and the steward will and replace it.
I only wish they had Nectarines or Plums...

A cruise is the perfect cure for a business slump. Book a cruise and immediately business picks-up. BTW, DH is the cat man in the family. I am dog....all the way.

And here is the cutest little fruit cat. (I am done with the cat thing, I think.)

Nothing like a great sense of humor. I too love the fruit. It has been on all of my HAL cruises. I am looking forward to hearing from and perhaps meeting those whom might be on Oosterdam 11/11. I love HAL . One of my first cruises was on Rotterdam (of old) amd Niew Amsterdam. I have been on 30 others since then I keep coming back. Oh, for the fruit of course.

Don't be shy about asking for anything onboard. We left notes for Boy, our steward, a few times. Extra towels, soap, pillows, whatever. If you want more fruit, just ask. If you wanted that browning banana removed, just toss it in the trash, or put it on a room service tray. It'll be gone next time the steward is in the room. :)

Think maybe I'll save a copy of that pic of the cat in the fruitbowl. Then in January I can show the steward what I mean when I ask for my cat in the fruitbowl. ;)

John's sacked out on the bed next to me. When I asked him to help me remember some of things we asked the steward for, he said "twinkies."

We had a fruit basket but it wasn't refilled (but then again it was only a 4 day cruise) and I realized the fruit was not necessarily fresh either. I could have done without the fruit basket. However, the chocolate-covered strawberries and champagne were wonderful! Okay, so they were not compliments of HAL but rather a gift but it kept me happy.
