What are the differences, if any, between the two ships? Although we've got two cruises booked on the Regatta for 2007, mama wants to do a summer cruise out of Venice yet again next year. Both either sail from or into Venice.
Any input would be most helpful.

I can't speak about the Nautica, but we have been on both the Regatta and Insignia. They are so identical that it is eerie. When you board, it feels like you never left the prior ship.
Service and food are also identically superior.
I would suspect that the Nautica would be the same.

You are correct - all three ships are nearly identical - but over these past years, minor cosmetic changes have been made. Those were mostly in fabrics, lighting fixtures and some furniture. The OS and VS suites on the Nautica were completely redone - and this will be continued with the Insignia and Regatta when they go in for drydock

We sailed on the two recently, and the two are very similar. The Nautica had new decor in the OS and VS cabins, there's a grand piano in the Grand Dining Room, and the lighting is brighter in the public areas on the Nautica. Also, the Nautica had upgraded lounge chairs in the port quarter of the pool deck, but I think they were being brought aboard the Insignia as we were disembarking. Also, the television selections seemed much better aboard the Nautica. The Nautica had voice-message capacity on its telephones, while the Insignia did not.
One major inconvenience - the location of the telephones. On the Insignia, there was one at your bedside. Aboard the Nautica, it's on the other side of the room on the desk. I don't know whether you like to get out of bed to answer a wake-up call, or whether you like to take or make telephone calls from inside the comfort of your comforter, but we found it most inconvenient.

Ah, but then you are more likely to wake up if your feet hit the floor, don't you find? I make my kids put in an appearance at the top of the stairs. It's rare after that that they fall back asleep.

Kurt,
I smiled when I saw your post, welcoming a friendly "face". Of course I misplaced your email address. We booked O's 7/28 Western Caribbean cruise on Nautica. I think we found our cruise "niche". Let us know how you like Crystal and please say hello to Sylvie for us!
