Can anyone who's been on the Conquest please give me some feedback or pointers.

I'm thinking of going on October 31st this year.

Thank you!

We sailed the Conquest last September.... BEST Cruise so far.. the Conquest was our third Cruise and I would sail her again in a minute. The service was WONDERFUL! You always hear about how the staff go out over their way for you, well on three cruises I never felt that way until sailing on the Conquest. From the bar server that made me a extra long straw when he saw me struggling with my drink (big fu fu drink)to the room stewart that always reminded me that I was entering a smiling zone and needed to put my smile back on.... http://messages.cruisecritic.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif They really really went out of their way. The food was wonderful, the music good, and the shows were ok. I won a little in the casino and enjoyed naps by the pool.. You really couldn't ask for more... Hope you have a WONDERFUL time.

We cruised on the Conquest last June (2003) and are booked for December (2004). The ship is beautiful, we had a wonderful time and can't wait to get back onboard. We stayed in a balcony cabin last time and are booked inside this time (2 cruises in one year will do that to you) Book it...you will love it.

The Conquest is fantastic. I sailed her in 2002 and had an absolutely wonderful time. The staff was unbelievable- some of the best I've encountered on land or sea and the ship itself is beautiful. I think you'll really enjoy sailing on her!

Jarett,

Here is our personal page on the Carnival Conquest. It has a great many links to Conquest photo albums & personal cruise websites, various menus, Capers, & a fair number of reviews. We continue to update the page. It should keep you busy for a while:

We sailed her on January 4, 2004. Loved it! Beautiful ship, great service and our room was really nice. One thing however, we had a balcony cabin on the Verandah deck close to the front of the ship. We couldn't turn the lights on at night after the first night on the balcony because they interfer with the captains crew sailing. No big deal to us, but if you want to sit on the balcony at night then it may be a problem. Sorry, I don't remember the room number.

Well, since you asked...

I didn't really enjoy my cruise on the Conquest as compared to my other cruises. I found the ship to be too big for my tastes and didn't care for the long lines everywhere. I found the service impersonal and my experience felt more like I was at a large land based resort. Conquest just isn't for me, I guess. I won't be going on a ship this large again.

The main thing to remember as far as getting around while on board is that Deck 5, the Promenade Deck, is the only deck with public areas (bars, stores, etc.) that goes all the way forward and aft.

It was hard to catch an elevator on my trip. It seems that at least one elevator in every set was out of order at all times. A crew member advised us to get on an elevator, even if it was going the wrong way, when you needed one. Hey, it's a ship, it can't go too far.

Finally, I just want to say that I never thought there were any long lines. Of course, I'm a Disney World fan, so I know LONG lines! I think it all depends on when you go. We went when most schools were in session. During summers and school breaks, I would anticipate a few more crowds.

We were on the Conquest in Feb 03 and enjoyed it very much. Even though it's a large ship, I found the personnel to be quite friendly and because of the way the ship is laid out, it never felt crowded to me. There were the normal chair hoggers on deck every day, but that seems to be the norm these days. We are going again on the Conquest in December!

We were on the Conquest in Dec. 2003 for our 4th cruise and loved her. We had a wonderful time. It did take a day or two to learn our way around! The crew was great as was the food and entertainment. We'd go again in a heartbeat!!

Conquest is SUPER but one thing to remember is each week each passenger will have a whole new group of fellow passengers and staff members to enact with which WILL or will NOT make for a good or bad cruise experience.
Couple of good friends and I have sailed the same ships and my favs ended up their not so favs and vice versa. You can be on the same ship even the same week and have a different experience. BUT I still think no matter the other passengers or crew, it's up to YOU to make the best of your cruise.
NEVER had a bad cruise-just some better than others!

My husband and I were married on the Conquest on 04/04/04 (while docked in New Orleans). It was our first cruise. Our experience was beyond wonderful and we cannot wait to go back on the Conquest again. The staff was very friendly, helpful, polite and took very good care of us. The ship, while it is large, is laid out very well. We got an upgrade from an oceanview cabin to a balcony cabin (#8392) - Carnival spoiled us, we will only sail in a balcony room in the future. Sitting on the balcony watching sunrise or sunset is wonderful, and leaving the door open during the night and hearing the waves crashing against the boat is so peaceful. My husband and I are huge cruise fans now and are contemplating when our next cruise is going to be...have to pay off those pesky credit card bills first http://messages.cruisecritic.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif

The Conquest was my 8th cruise and by far one of my favorites. Even though we got caught up in the Mississipi River closing because of the tragic accident, we still loved the ship. Have to agree about the "chair hoggers", Carnival needs to get a handle on this. Anyway, loved Carnival so much going on the Pride in January.
Have a wonderful time, the Conquest is awesome!!
