It was last Friday that my AAA TA, told me that she difficulty getting us in an early seating because of a 700 group So, it was then I posted on the Cruise critic.

We went to see her yesterday and she called Guest Services--was put on hold for 11/2 hours and then got cut off. She then called the Group Dept. and after a long wait got thru. She was told that there WAS a group of 700 scheduled for this sailing but they all been moved to another sailing

The largest group is 196 (according to HAL and TA)

So, we did put down-payment and will pay in full by the 19th.

Many thanks for all the responses
Bon Voyage!!

And even 196 does not necessarily mean a problem. Depends upon the nature of the group. If it were a senior citizens group or a religious "retreat" type thing, then generally there are no problems. Sure, they may get to take over a lounge one evening for a group cocktail party, but most of their activities, if there are any, will take place in meeting rooms that wouldn't be used for the general passengers during the daytime anyway.

You have "groups" on every cruise. Even my 30-day Hawaii/South Pacific cruise had a large "group" onboard ... something organized by a large travel agency on the West Coast for their customers. I just remember that all the group members had these pineapple decorations on their cabin doors. But, that group didn't dominate the cruise at all. They were just getting some great group ammenities, and I presume rates, by sailing on a group booking.

My first cruise was a group ... a writer's conference at sea. I can't remember how many people we had, but it was several hundred. We did have one cocktail party using a reserved lounge for a few hours, and then had some small breakout sessions in general areas like the Crow's Nest ... but using only a small section of the lounge during the day ... while other passengers were free to come and go up there as well. All our seminars/lectures took place in areas and at times when those venues were not being used for any other purpose, so we didn't impact anyone else's cruise experience one iota.

But, be glad you dumped the "Caribbean Singles" group. That one gives me the shivers. :)

Hope you have a great cruise.

Blue skies ...

Ah! There's the question. The problem didn't disappear, it just moved to a new venue. Not unlike a hurricane roaming the Atlantic deciding where to strike. We're all still in danger until we have more information.
