To all the many cruisers who take the time to post after sailing, to answer the endless questions, who offer such unique suggestions and hints but most importantly your timeless patience---you give us newbies so much to think about and believe it or not, you make the waiting so much easier!!!Sailing 08/21/04 on Jubilee - (and noting the ones who disliked it, but positive I'll know how to have a good time anyway)

I cruised the JUBILEE 3 times (many years ago). Have an incredible archive of pleasant memories stored in the back of my head from this ship. http://messages.cruisecritic.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif
Enjoy your cruise.

You are welcome! I hate being new at anything so I try to help others.
That's right, attitude makes a huge difference. I watched people on the Fantasy moving away from a fellow standing on the Lido deck. I wondered what he could be saying to them, but I was standing far enough away that I could not grasp the coversation, although I could tell that no one wanted to carry on a conversation with the man. Finally my db was captured by the man and I watched as he said a few words to him, as soon as my db could escape he was moving to the left of the man and speaking to others (you speak to total strangers on ships).
I moved on to the wonderful breakfast that was laid out for our pleasure. Later it occured to me that I had not asked him what the man on the Lido desk was saying to people so I asked, he said, "the man was only on the cruise because it was what his wife wanted to do and if he could get off now he would. This fellow could of enjoyed all of the food around him, he could have enjoyed the warm sunshine, the good smell of the warm moist salt air, but nope he wanted to make himself miserable.
Enjoy your cruise!

ABSOLUTELY thrilled people took the time to respond-I haven't found anyone else sailing at the time I am (8/21/04 Jubilee)but I simply can't stay away from this site!! checking it has become a ritual! Thank you all and I promise NOT ONE PERSON who may have disliked the Jubilee or will dislike it, will have any effect on me--there's always something good in anything and everything but my upcoming cruise has already provided me with countless hours of pleasure without even boarding lol
NOW FOR THE QUESTIONS (yes, you knew they were coming lol)
Does the tv pick up stations or rent movies only?
what kind of contests and events do they have on the boat?
Anyone besides me find nothing wrong in tanning topless on the top deck?
Does the ship provide wake-up calls?
OK, ok enough already but please be patient because I'm pretty sure I have a ka-Zillon more-and because I'm sailing with 3 other females, you all make me really look forward to meeting other cruisemates!!

Broadcast networks are available.
<BLOCKQUOTE class="ip-ubbcode-quote"><font size="-1">quote:</font><HR>what kind of contests and events do they have on the boat?<HR></BLOCKQUOTE>
Too many to mention here. Example copies of the daily Capers listing the activities are all over the internet.
<BLOCKQUOTE class="ip-ubbcode-quote"><font size="-1">quote:</font><HR>Anyone besides me find nothing wrong in tanning topless on the top deck?<HR></BLOCKQUOTE>
You are not alone. That is why the Funnel Deck is designated adults-only.
<BLOCKQUOTE class="ip-ubbcode-quote"><font size="-1">quote:</font><HR>Does the ship provide wake-up calls?
<HR></BLOCKQUOTE>
Yes. You may easily program your in-cabin telephone to deliver a wake-up call.

April, I have not been on Jubilee but most of the ships offer the same fetchers. They do have some regular TV to watch and a couple free movies each day. you can also do the pay preview kind of thing. I always take my portable DVD player and a cord to hook it to the TV then bring my own movies. You can do an automated wake up call through the phone system. There is a book in the cabin that explains how (also contains lots of other helpful info including room service menu. All kinds of games and contest going on keep your Caper (daily paper) handy. Last but not least definitely nothing wrong with bating topless on the top deck. It's easy to find a spot and you don't have a lot of kids running around. I recommend going up there even if you keep your top on.

April - We are sailing on Jubilee on July 24 and I'm really looking forward to it. I know we will have a great time. I firmly believe a vacation is what you make of it. I will post a review when we get back, but I don't anticipate any major problems.

Once again, I'm amazed at the responses (once I figured out today how to find them-and people ask me if I'm a natural blonde)To those crusing before me-I'm waiting with bated breath for your cruise report---and to all of you who make the time to reply, thank you so much--this cruising is really like an extended family and so far, I'm not putting anyone up for adoption!!

LOL-How cruel of me-tissues on the way
Frankly I'm beginning to feel as though this cruise isn't going to get here!! I've never been so excited over a trip-I'm even packing some items and feeling quite foolish about it but what the heck--I am a virgin cruiser so I'm allowed to get giddy (it's in my rule book and thank heavens I'm the one who writes it lol) Now if I can find some fellow passengers sailing on the same date! You know the type, people who could have a good time on a ship, drinking something frozen or scotch on the rocks, ready, willing and able to dance till dawn, lying in the sun when not floating in the pool, making a complete *** of themselves in all the contests lol, determined to kiss dolphins, snorkle in a different world, and see just how many stars they're capable of touching, etc, etc, etc! Now that's not asking to much is it? lol (by the way, can you tell I'm a tad excited? does it show? hmmmm lol)

Not sure this is the best place to post this, but I have so much enjoyed reading experienced cruisers' helpful suggestions and advice for us newbies!! I've made a point of ignoring the few who couldn't have a good time no matter where they are but honestly, after reading some replys stating the way others dress could offend them, has simply amazed me--why in the world would anyone think they have the right to judge another human being based on anything much less clothes--I wear anything and everything I like and feel comfortable in and wouldn't for a moment wonder if it was to young for me, to old for me, etc. Frankly I don't need someone to validate what I wear, nor do I believe "clothes makes the person"---A book cover may be beautiful but if the contents isn't interesting, it will be set aside. It just so happens I love putting together outfits, and I adore anything out of the ordinary. If I like the way I look, then that's the most important thing--and if some people get their kicks out of judging others, or intentionally hurting someones' feelings, I have a suggestion--on the cruise I sail on, the Jubilee on August 21, 2004--just focus on me instead of someone else--I promise I can handle anything dished out so you can give the rest of the people a break--and I won't EVEN get upset-but be warned I don't like hearing other people being talked about for your petty entertainment and WILL let you know it---You will know it's me--long blonde hair, leggy with lots of skorts, a grandmother who smokes (in the designated areas), topless on the top deck tanning, dancing till dawn and wearing what I dag-gone well please!! and hope the rest of you do the same! I can't wait for the cruise and these boards honestly help make the waiting easier so to the few who get their kicks the nasty way-lighten up please, we just want to have fun and be ourselves the same way you do! If you follow man made rules for what's in and what's out, that's your right but this gal trusts her own thinking first--not some stranger who makes up dress codes that a lot of sheep just follow--Have fun, relax and I can't wait to meet you all on the boat for who you are and not what you wear lol
