There are none unless you meant elevators. The "S" class ships have one set of escalators by the atrium on LP deck that go to Main deck. Never did figure out why those were put in!

..there is usually an escalator from the galley to the upper dining area, for the wait staff to carry food to the upper dining room...
But you only get to see that on the galley tour.

Always thought those elevators on the S class ships that went from one deck to another was a waste!!
Many times we saw one or both of them out of service - especially the last couple of years.

There have been times when the galley escalators have not been in service and the dining room staff have to run up and down the stairs.

No passenger escalators on the R Class and none at all on the Vista Class ships

Somehow escalators on a cruise ship would make it look like we were in a department store! :)

On the Veendam, they had an escalator on from the lower prominade up one deck... I enjoyed it, however I wondered why it stopped after a certain hour at night...do they consume that much power?

 TO GER 77, WHAT KIND OF SAILOR ARE YOU ANYWAY. THE QUESTION SHOULD BE DO THE ESCALATORS GO FORE OR AFT?

FrankiedNYC: Up here in the "frozen tundra" our escalators only go to the front or back. Fore is what we say when we play snow golf: "What fore did you hit the ball into the snowbank?" . Aft is what we say when we finished dinner: "Who's turn is it to do the dishes aft dinner?" :D
Smooth Sailing! :) :) :)

What's realy funny is that up till now I've thought you all have been joking about ELEVATORS....I got the 2 confused (happens a lot with me!). So I wasn't really paying attention and was kind of lost....
Jessica Simpson moment of the past few days for me... :o :p

Officer, it can be very dangerous when a couple of blondes get together. :D :)
When DO you work? Are you cruising CC from the laptop in your cruiser? You always seem to be on-line when I am, which is evening to late-nite east coast time, -3 for you. :) OK, that was John's question.

I currently work Day Watch Patrol (0630-1600) in charge of a shift but I'm in the middle of a stretch of six days off (Back to work Sunday)

Do they have different color carpeting on the up versus down escalator?

"Do they have different color carpeting on the up versus down escalator"
No, but it looks darker going up than it does coming down. You just have to run back and forth a few times to compare the colour.
Smooth Sailing! :) :) :)

Does it show the day of the week on the treads of the escalator? What happens if they forget to change the day on the UP v. DOWN. It could very confusing for the elderly, drunk or blonde pax. :D
