We are eligible for Skipper's Club boarding on the Pride. I'm just curious if we are better off boarding through Skipper's Club or through the early boarding on the Queen Mary. If any one has used Skipper's Club boarding in Long Beach, I would appreciate your input. I have a difficult time standing for a period of time over 10 minutes, so this info would help me plan our embarkation.
Thanks for the help!
Kathy

It was all joke when we were recently there. Lines everywhere and none of the employees knew anything. We went ahead and did early check-in (because we didn't know any better & because there was nothing else to do that early). After QM, we made our way to the cruise terminal where there were lines everywhere and we asked every employee that we saw- most didn't even know what skipper's club was. We finally found the shortest line (closest to the ship) and a couple people said they were in line for skipper's club and a few said they were there for some kind of document verification, so being the shortest line, we stayed with it (and in the hot sun). We were finally let in as the 2nd line and were directed to get into another line for skipper's club, only to be told later it was for check-in, which most of us already did at QM, so we left the line and went on to the ship. There is no such thing as skipper's club upon disembarkation.
Oh well. http://messages.cruisecritic.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif
I was impressed with the handling of the shipper's club on the Conquest last year, even being in a temp port (Gulfport).
I hope I answered some of your questions.

PS, the only thing I could tell you that may help with your standing dilemma, is to either show up after the ship has started boarding so you don't have to wait in line, or have a seat somewhere near the line while someone with you holds your place. Hope this helps.

Jennifer,
Thanks for the info. I've sent an E-mail to my TA (Costco) and asked that they contact Carnival for specific info on Skipper's Club and/or disabled boarding. Hopefully, they will come back with an answer.

They did board the disabled passengers first, so if you're in a wheelchair or can somehow contact Carnival about the matter, you should be able to get into the 2nd line nearest the Pride (next to the so-called skipper's club line), then you'll be in the 1st line to board. Hope this helps. Good Luck. http://messages.cruisecritic.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I hate to sound like I'm whining, so I'll tell you that there were many other passengers wandering around lost, also griping about the disorganization (including the people in line in front of us). I just don't want anyone to flame me for telling my experience. http://messages.cruisecritic.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif
I think your best bet will be to get into the disabled passenger line, I'm just not sure if you'll do the ealry check-in at QM or just check-in at the terminal. I would think that they would check you in once you get into the terminal- and you would be the 1st line to enter.
I hope the info helps. Good luck to you.

Thanks Jennifer,
I probably will try the disabled boarding unless my TA gives different information. I am ticketed as a disabled passenger (use a walker on occassion) so there should not be any problem.

Here is the answer I got from my TA.
Hi Kathleen,
Thank you for writing. You are eligible to enter via the Skipper's Club. When you arrive at the pier, you will need to contact a Carnival representative to have them escort you to the entrance. Essentially the Skipper's club is not a separate line; you would be escorted to the front of the line. This is information was received from a Carnival representative, if you still have questions, please let me know.
Kathy

Hmm. Maybe things will be more organized by then http://messages.cruisecritic.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_confused.gif
If not, look for the shortest line (it was the one closest to the ship when we were there).
Let me know how it goes, and good luck.
