Okay folks..we're here on board the Victory, and so far it's been smooth sailing. The ship is very nice, the staff has been very good, and the one port of call that we've been to was great..Cozumel.
Will post a review when I return home, but wanted to know if anyone had any specific questions.
Fire away!

Hi Lisa,
Someone in our CC group May 23rd was asking about the Cruise Director. Is it still Carlos Lombard?
My daughter(11)might still be on crutches when we board. Little worried about this. How did your boarding go. No skipper club for us. http://messages.cruisecritic.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_frown.gif
Have a great cruise, can't wait to hear all about it.

Lisa http://messages.cruisecritic.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif,
Hope you have a wonderful cruise and come back and write a review.
coupe of question, we will be aft of ship in a "L" shaped cabin on the upper deck 2nd cabin from the very back cabins with the wrap around balcony's. Cabin 6424. Check this area out if you have time also not sure which dining room you are in, but I've read that the aft dining room had a lot of motion which means in that case so will our cabin.
Also have read that the Victory is hard to learn your way around, when you get home give us some insights.
Thanks and again enjoy you cruise to the fullest and have a Blast!!!! http://messages.cruisecritic.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

I was on victory last week. Once you figure out the elevators, you will be fine. You will definately get lost a few times lol. Even on the last day. Some places are harder to find than others. Always remember that the elevators by the glass elevators all go all the way to top and bottom. The one at the back of ship does also. Other 2 only go to 10. You will see what I mean when you get there. I will be happy to answer questions also.

Oh, I'm so jealous - we just spent a wonderful week on the Victory April 18 - 25 and wish we were back there! St. Maarten and St. Thomas were beautiful - San Juan could be taken off the ports of call...but that's another story. Enjoy your cruise and "Yes" we still got lost on the last day - getting to the Atlantic Dining Room is tricky....but the ship is beautiful with tons of things to keep you busy.

Well, everyone, sorry I didn't get a chance to post replies to your questions sooner, as the internet connection on the ship was a bit slow, so it quickly ate up the time we had.
In any event, we returned LATE last night, and we had a blast. Everything was great, and I'll post a review very soon.
To answer a few questions, the CD is Carlo Lombard. Pretty much didn't see him much the entire cruise, but heard him whenever he'd announce bingo or the gift shop specials.
The embarkation process was the smoothest I've ever encountered. We were on board by 12:30pm on Sunday the 9th. It was great! Our room was ready by 1pm, too. Debark was good, too. We were announced by luggage tag color, and off the ship by 10:45am. Unfortunately, we didn't fly out of MIA until 5:50pm, so we had some waiting to do!
All the ports of call were great...Grand Cayman was our personal fave. Clean, friendly, great shopping and beautiful waters. I'll post more about those in the Ports of Call section and with my review. Needless to say, the Western Carib itinerary is my fave so far!
As this was my first Carnival cruise, there were some differences I noted from RCL. One biggie that I can think of off the top of my head was the ship wasn't as clean. As I peered over my balcony rail, there was an abundance of rust that I've never had occasion to see on any other ship I've sailed. I was a bit surprised to notice the staff not cleaning/painting the exterior of the ship when it was docked in our various ports of call. I was a bit disappointed at the lack of cleaning that took place on board. More about this in my review.
Any other questions?

Hi and welcome back. I was getting off the cruise when you were getting on. In st. Thomas the completely washed down/removed rust from one side of the ship. Maybe they hadnt gotten to the other side yet. lol My only complaints were the food and our room steward. Other than that the ship was clean and beautiful. We didnt realize we had left it that dirty LOL Glad u made it home safely

Yes, our room steward was lacking. Never met him/her, and he certainly didn't go out of his way to do anything special. Didn't replace towels when asked, and was horrified to notice that when we checked in, there were someone's nail clippings on the counter!! GROSS!!

I really think they don't try as hard since they put the tips on sign and sail. When you paid them directly I think you saw the stewards more and they tried harder to please.

Hey all!
Just got back from V, as well. Hi Lisa!!!
I agree with Lisa on almost everything...BUT, we had a fantastic housekeeper and we DID see Carlo at many shows and events. Other differences were that our outside window was cleaned twice and we saw the pools and whirlpools hand scrubbed, the med. buffet tiles recaulked and the rails were "touch up" painted. Most of these maintenence tasks were done in Ocho Rios. We only jumped off ship for a couple hours due to my nasty sore throat. We watched the crew clean while Lisa and gang were off having a FANTASTIC TIME, I'm told, with Phil LaFayette's tour. Geeeez, I regret that!!!

Glad to hear the crew cleaned up while in port in Ocho Rios. I was truly beginning to wonder!
Sorry you missed the tour, too, Karen, but just remember, there's always next time!

Crazy thing is, I spoke to other room stewards in the hall more than I spoke to my own LOL. What rooms were you guys in? Carlos was EVERYWHERE on my cruise.

I never saw Carlo, but was told that he was running the events in the Caribbean Lounge..the bingo, the trivia, the contests, etc. I watched him more on the Carnival channel than I saw him in person! LOL...
We were in cabin 7408. Great cabin...love the aft location and would book there again in a heartbeat.
