Does anyone have any suggestions on Progresso with a toddler? I don't think the chicken itza ruins would entertain him much.

You can of course do the beach with a todler.
Or if you have a stroller you could take the bus to Merida and stroll around the main plaza and see the buildings from the 1500's. A beautiful old (and large) city. Not your typical over-touristed port. Check out the Ports of Call board here on Cruise Critic.
