Can anyone help? We live in Philly and we are going to be leaving from New Canaan, CT from my parents house...how should we go about getting there? Any suggestions?

I live in Bucks County but my daughter is coming from Boston for our CTN in June. She is coming on Amtrak mainly because she is unfamiliar with NYC.
You could probably drive down and park at the pier, but I hear that is expensive. Maybe a limo from CT would be easier.

We have gone out of NY 3 times.. first time we drove to the pier. Never again. We get a car service to bring us. From BPT 30 miles east of New Canaan its about $300 round trip. Parking @ $24 dollars a day the difference isn't that much and well worth it. Just plan to be picked up by 10AM..

We had a friend drop us off and pick us up in our car.
Word to the wise:
Check the port schedule to see how many ships in/out that day. Lines can be crazy.
We left on a Sun with 5 ships and it was a zoo, returned on a Monday, no other ships, got off no problem
