Hi,
I just got back from Destiny and had a wonderful time - largely due to the outstanding company I had - but the ship is great, the service very good, food was plentiful and the bars LUCKILY were well stocked http://messages.cruisecritic.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif
Go to this thread: http://messages.cruisecritic.com/2/OpenTopic?q=Y&a=tpc&s=927093444&f=969097554&m=2083089557&p=26
It has all Destiny info from ports to the ship to reviews, tips, and other stuff. Also, check out the Roll Call Forum to see if other members are going when you plan to sail. It's great to meet new friends from the boards on board! http://messages.cruisecritic.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

We've been on the Destiny twice. Don't forget to sneak out onto the front of the ship! Take deck 7 starboard side all the way forward and take the door outside. You'll have to go down some stairs outside in the dark, but you can get almost all the way to the front of the ship.

I haven't been on the Destiny in awhile but I Love the lay out of the ship and when we were onboard had one of the best cruises in my life on her. There is a thread on the Boards for recent and past Destiny cruisers if you haven't seen it do a search for it..lots of helpful things in there about the Destiny and ppls experiences onboard her as well.

I just got back from a Destiny cruise. I've posted a review on the "attention Destiny cruisers past and future" thread. There are a couple of others also.
I had a great time!

We were on the Destiny last June. I thought the ship was clean and well cared for. We had a cabin with a balcony at the stern on the Verandah deck. That is definitely the way to go! Food was typical Carnival fare, most was great, some left a little to be desired but that's just a matter of tastes. There weren't the huge crowds in the dining rooms that I was warned about The shows were OK but I admit to not being much of a show watcher. The first day or two deck chairs were hard to find, (too much chair saving) but by later in the trip there seemed to be ample space. I thought the cruise director Jorge was kind of lame. His recurring schtick at the shows was making fun of those of us who didn't speak spanish. I'm sure he was just playing to his audience.
Traveling in January you may avoid what was my biggest complaint. Too many spoiled, unruly undisciplined children. I'm probably going to get flamed for this but it's how I feel. Most of them were probably from Puerto Rico as spanish was the predominant language spoken.
I wrote it off to a cultural difference in child rearing. We just would never have allowed our children to throw the tantrums we saw or run around as they did. The parents seemed oblivious to some fairly rude behavior.
But having said all that, the trip was fun. The ports were interesting. In St Thomas we got my wife the piece of jewelry she wanted so she was happy.(Guys, buy your wife a nice piece of jewelry every trip, you won't regret it) The beaches were beautiful. I'd probably never go to Martinique again but we made the best of it.
The pirate cruise in Barbados was a blast. You gotta do that. Aruba was nothing like I expected but fun. The snorkeling was incredible.
