View Full Version : Funpass "Quick Check In" is....

...NOT FUN.

Sorry if I'm burning people out on this, but my saga of the literal horrors of the "Funpass Quick Check In" on the Carnival website continues.

As I pointed out yesterday, when I tried to fill these out for my family (who are ALL past Carnival cruisers) for our upcoming cruise, the system refused to recognize one of us -- my son -- as a past Carnival guest (despite the fact he has a past guest # that Carnival has seperately confirmed is accurate).

Well, after several unsuccessful attempts to rectify that over the phone with Carnival, things have gotten progressively worse. When I go to the site now, log on and try to edit our forms, I now find that all four of us are now "unrecognizable" to Carnival as prior guests.

I wonder what Carnival has planned next. Perhaps our entire reservation will simply disappear......

Sorry you are having problems. I did the "fun pass" last night for my hubby, myself, and my son and was totally finished in 5 minutes, everything printed.

A friend that is coming w/ us said it took him an hour to fill it out for him and his son and he never did get it to print.

I hope you get if fixed soon.

Hey Mikey -- Did you call them like I advised yesterday? Tell the rep that you want all past guest numbers added to your reservation. Check it out in the system a day or so and poof--- it will be there. Good luck!
just remember.... you are still going on a cruise, and My online TA totally has my docs screwed up, but I am at the point where I could care less. I will sleep in a life boat if I need to http://messages.cruisecritic.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

krus, glad you had no problems. The ones that are being reported here seem to fall into severeal variants:

Version A: mine (past guests being told that Carnival has no record of them previously sailing with the line).

Version B: error messages on ones for children, that seem to be related to certain birth years (1991 seems to be mentioned often).

Ral - I have called them several times - have spoken to people who work directly on Fastpass, as well as people in the past guest area. All meant well, but all have specifically told me that the glitch I'm running into can't be fixed (and worse, that it will "pollute" our documents, e.g. they will carry forward any info on the Funpass files). What I have NOT done -- and will try now -- is calling the general reservations area and seeing if I can get them to add our past guest #s to our booking. Thanks.

Ral, another update: I did get through late this afternoon to someone at Carnival in the general reservations area.

Beyond the fact it was a relief to finally deal with a Carnival phone rep who doesn't speak English as a second language, I also found out that our past guest numbers are not on our reservation files.

Because we made our reservation through an agency, Carnival won't take them from me, they are insisting the agency has to provide them (so much for removing the middleman). I've sent them to the agency and will wait a few days; hopefully at that time this problem will finally be cleared up.

Don't get stressed out over the fun pass because it's a big joke any way. The line for the fun pass at embarkation was just as long and slow as the regular line, if not slower. I have not talked to one person who benefitted from the fun pass line in any way.

I did the funpass for our 3/28 Victory cruise. this was before Carnival last upgraded (???) their web site. The lines at check in were about the same. However, I did save time over manual entry during check in as all my info was there. All the rep had to do was check our passports and do the credit card imprint.

My TA at BPC asked for our past guest numbers to add to the booking. I originally booked with BPC on line, and then when I called to ask a few questions, I spoke with this woman and she kind of 'took me under her wing.' I didn't know my past guest numbers, but I called Carnival and asked them, then gave them to the TA and she included them in the booking. I have NO idea why Carnival will not accept a past guest number FROM you, if they are willing to give them TO you. Sometimes I believe it's the luck of the draw with WHO you wind up getting on the phone!
As for the Fun Pass on line, I did my husbands and the kids but not my own because I had been waiying for my passport to come in the mail. I did theirs in seconds with no difficulty. I was able to put in the past guest numbers and their passport ID numbers. When my passport arrived in the mail, I went back in to fill out my Fun Pass, and although it let me fill out one, it didn't ask for a past guest number OR my passport number. I called Carnival because it said my Fun Pass was complete, but I sure as heck didn't think it was. The Carnival rep told me if it says it's complete then it is. I stil think that when I go to check in, my family will get right through but I'll have to pull out all my documents.

I completed our Fun Passes over a month ago and everything went fine. After reading the threads here, I went back and checked. The Fun Passes now said "incomplete" for all of us. I called Carnival and was told they are updating their database and everyone will be assigned new past guess numbers. The Fun Pass program is looking for these new numbers, that's why they don't recognize the ones we currently have.

I think with this upgrade they changed the system to not ask for passport numbers just if you have one as I have seen many posts by people who have filled it out recently and have not had to input passport numbers...me included.

>>I called Carnival and was told they are updating their database and everyone will be assigned new past guess numbers. The Fun Pass program is looking for these new numbers, that's why they don't recognize the ones we currently have.<<

Ah - perhaps this explains why the Funpass system changed all our passes from "complete" to "incomplete" just yesterday. Despite the fact we are all prior Carnival guests, every form for all four of us is now showing "no" in the past guest field, and when I try to change them to "yes," the system comes back with an error message stating " We are unable to confirm your past guest status."

What is even more annoying, however, is the rest of the message, which states "Please select the 'No' option in the Past Guest Info section to continue."

If one does that, the Funpass gets finalized, with incorrect data (past guests are pigeonholed as new cruisers).

If you call Carnival to try to have them correct this, you get a polite lecture to the effect "we can't, so just go to the guest service desk on the ship after you board, give them your prior guest number and ask them to add it to their database."

In other words, the current carnival "workaround" for the Funpass system problems is to have the guest manually fix the problem on their own while on vacation.

I am NOT impressed!!!

If the "Qucik Check In" process was not quick, I would not use it. Simply said.

I have used it with no problems but I feel for those that struggle with it.

I say do it the old fassion way and just check in. There were no different lines for Funpass as it was a very short wait (less than 5 minutes at the counter & 0 minutes at security).

I did fill mine out over 30 days ago and it still shows as complete. I did input passport number at that time. They now have omitted it. I though it also had past passenger number but no longer does. Rather a yes/no now as for past passenger. I know it is on my booking and also on my profile. My booking picked up my past guest number from my profile when I added our booking.

Same thing happened here. I did the Fun Pass registration for 11 of us about a month & a half ago. When the docs arrived, I remembered I hadn't input my MIL's info. I noticed the format had been changed (not asking for passport number, dates, etc. or past guest #), etc. So then I looked at the rest of ours, and all were incomplete and had been complete before. I got the same response from Carnival about taking our past guest number to the info desk once on board so we will get invited to the past guest party. Oh well, it could be worse . . . I'm just happy to be going on a cruise!! http://messages.cruisecritic.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif
