Our first cruise (but not the last) Destiny 2-1-04, Mark Hawkins. I liked him, but what do I know? We saw him around alot.
Who will we have on Victory 1-30-05 and did you like him?
To travel hopefully is a better thing than to arrive.

WOW!!!!!! You guys are GREAT!!!!
Went to watch my daughter's softball game and all these postings since I left.
I have a couple questions some of you may be able to answer.
Can someone discribe "Malcolm In the Middle". I have heard that name before on a cruise, but he wasn't the director. I think he may have been one of the Social Hosts on the Destiny with Troy. Someone help me out here.
Does anyone know if AJ, who was an Assistant Cruise Director, still cruising with Carnival. I sailed with him on the Imagination in 2002 (he dressed as Santa) and met his wonderful wife Cindy that is a Purser for Carnival then. Would love to find out where they are now. I know he was going to the Triumph after the Imagination. Hope he finally got promoted! He was GREAT!!!

Triumph, April 17, 2004 - The Best "John Heald"
tef43
May 14th, 2004, 06:03 AM
Ranking the four Carnival cruise directors who I have sailed with:
1. Malcolm Kennedy (deceased) - the absolute best cruise director EVER.
2. John Heald - who sailed under Malcolm Kennedy in his early Carnival years. John and I reminisced extensively about Malcolm back in January on the Triumph.
3. Don't remember his name, that's how much of an impression he made, but he was still better than ...
4. Jeff Brrrrrrrrronnnnnnsonnnnn - the sorriest excuse for a cruise director, EVER. Full of himself, tried too hard, and failed. Pathetic.
CD's on other lines - Mostly unmemorable. The husband/wife team CD's on Costa were pretty bad, but other than that, nothing worth commenting on, good *or* bad.

We disembarked the Spirit two days ago. The Cruise Director was Michael Mullane, our second time sailing with him and his wife, Jeni. We loved them - entertaining, talented, friendly.
The best cruise director we ever had was on RCI (sorry!) Jeffrey Arpin on the Voyager of the Seas, September 2002.

Vidimom, I had the opportunity to sail with both Troy Linton and Malcolm in the Middle on my August 26-September 2, 2001 cruise. I had the pleasure of meeting both and they were the best. Troy went out of his way to make the folks he meet feel special. One night on our cruise, my sister and girlfriend were taking pix in the Piano bar while it was empty. All of such a nicely dressed young man comes up and asks, if we'd like a picture with all of us. I recognized right away it was Troy. He even took a picture with us. Malcolm was the Assistant Cruise director along with Francessa cruise director in training. They were all the best. To describe Malcolm, tall, lanky, me thinks his hair may have been blondish or reddish, African American young man. One night Malcolm and Francessa had a limbo line going but no pole. Since this was going on, on the Lido deck, I raced over to were the silverware was and grabbed a couple of cloth napkins, tied them together and there, was a "limbo" pole. Malcolm nicknamed me "McGyver" for the rest of the cruise and it also earned me a "ship on the stick". Haaa, the memories. I heard a while back he was a cruise director. Hoping Malcolm or Troy will be on the Destiny next year when I sail her again.
Also, sailed with Mr. Hearld last year on the Triumph. He was pretty funny as well.
My vote:
Destiny, August 21, 2001 - Troy Linton
Triumph, August 17, 2003 - John Herald
Sorry to babble, http://messages.cruisecritic.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif just reliving the memories.

Thanks Hawaii697!!!
That is exactly who I thought Malcom was. He was a real character!!! I will never forget during the show in which Troy wore a Tutu, Malcom came out dressed like Dracula and low and behold, tore off the costume and put on somewhat of a stripper show! As tall and lanky as he was, it was fantastic and had us rolling in the aisles. You cruised 2 weeks before we did, unfortunately, we were on the cruise when the 9/11 distaster happened and talking about a crew pulling together to keep things going, Troy and Malcom did just that. I don't remember there being a female host then, but I could be wrong. Maybe she didn't make the impression on us that the guys did. Troy is very personable and we talked with him several times throughout the cruise. We even sat in one of the bars and had a drink with him. Super nice guy and very hard working! Would also love to cruise with him again.!

November 2003 Triumph GREG HILTON. This was his first cruise as CD. He did a great job and I'd cruise on his ships again.
May 2004 just off the Triumph yesterday JOHN HEALD. Funny but no better than Malcom. Dont get what the big deal is. (MHO) He seems to be full of himself, & not seen around the ship. Also seemed forgetful.

That's what I am afraid of. From what I hear, he will be the CD on the Valor, and I've already heard so much about him that I wonder if they'll be any surprises. http://messages.cruisecritic.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif

We had
Paradise 9/2002 - Josh Riffe
Paradise 9/2003 - Jeff Bronnnnsonnnn
Josh was AWESOME. Perfectly suited for CD. Jeff was his polar opposite. I'm glad to hear Josh is back on the Paradise as we're sailing her again in August, and I had hoped he'd be cycled back aboard her for our trip. Hope he's still there then. http://messages.cruisecritic.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I pretty much kept to myself for the entire cruise, so I can't give an exhaustive review. All I can say is that I saw him out and about on the ship every day and seemed to really enjoy what he was doing.
