Hi - although I have been on many cruises and read the boards - I must confess that I have always wondered about the Cruise Critic get to gethers - they sound like a lot of fun and that you meet many fellow cruisers - but my question is how are you informed and invited to the functions??? Is a notice sent out?? Are there bulletins issued? We recently returned from the 10-25-06 cruise and will be on the January 6, 2007 cruise - it would be great to receive information on this --- or you may E-mail me --- thanks a bunch

Go to the Roll Call section, select Holland America, look for your ship/cruise date. Someone may have already started putting together a meet for CC members. If not, suggest it or start one yourself. It's not hard to do and can be fun.

Since you didn't say which ship you'll be on in January I can't direct you exactly, but go to the HAL Roll Call forum http://boards.cruisecritic.com/forumdisplay.php?f=86 and select your ship, then look for the date of your cruise. Start reading, and you'll find a name of somebody who is organizing the Meet and Greet. :)

If you are referring to Noordam's January 6, 2007 cruise, you should go to the roll call thread. I see you are from Massachusetts and there are others from our fine state on that cruise.
Let us know if you will be on that cruise.
Whichever......hope you have a great time.

Our January 6 Noordam roll call is quite active, with over 50 people on the roll.
Just come over to this thread:
http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=384540
Introduce yourself, and you'll be added to our roll call.
There is already a meeting scheduled for the first day at sea, as well as a cabin crawl for later on, and people are making door signs and name tags- just read through the posts and get to know the lovely group.
Under 2 months to go!

cruishappy...as the others have said you should go to the Roll Calls - under HAL and Noordam and then register so that you will be on the list with the rest of us.
By the way, since you are from Buzzards Bay I am curious to know how you are going to NY. Are you driving or taking an HAL bus?? Since we are from the Cape we will be staying overnight in Providence the night before and then taking the HAL bus from Providence directly to the pier in NY. We found this to be very convenient last April.
Look forward to meeting you and also to joining you outside the Lido in the COLD for a smoke!!

Cruishappy. I hope it's the Noordam Jan. 6th because you said you would meet LiizB1 and I outside for a cigarette and we would all catch colds
together. Let us know and sign up for the roll call.

Explain "cabin crawl" please. I am assuming it's similar to a pub crawl - moving from place to place for drinking and nibbling. We have a really good meet and greet scheduled for our Veendam cruise, name tags, food, etc. but we've never heard of a cabin crawl.

Hi = On the October 25th cruise we used Limoliner - and it worked out great - we drove to the Sheraton in Framingham where we left our car - NO CHARGE for the parking - they then took us to the Hilton in New York - and from there we took a cab to the pier --- the cab fare was about $5.00 - a real nice and comfortable ride --- beautifull leather recliner seats - TV -DVD - served a Continental breakfast - the services were great -- they really bent over backwards to make you comfortable --- on the way home they served a light meal - and offered pickins -- while you watched a full length movie --- the price was $78,00 each --- we plan on using them once again in January - hope you find this informaiton helpful --- meanwhile we ara looking forward to the cruise and having our COOL SMOKES lol

The Limoliner sounds interesting. I'd forgotten about it. If I wanted to go to NYC, this would be a very appealing option.

Hello, I'm just back from Zuiderdam's Nov. 11 sailing and I had set up a meet and greet. Just don't be too disappointed if you don't have a good turn out, our number was 46 and only 7 showed up. I felt very embarrased that they had gone to so much trouble setting up a bar area and a snack area just for 7. On our future cruises I will gladly attend any meet and greet but will not set up another for it was a waste of the cruise staff's time.
On a happier note several of the cruise staff stopped by and introduced themselves to us. Mark Pells, the hotel manager, sat with us for 30 mins answering any questions that we had. He also invited us to a VIP party with the captain. They served unlimited champagne, wine, bar drinks and hot and cold hors d'oeuvres. It was beautiful sipping champagne under the stars with our new friends that we had met at our meet and greet.
