Discovered (happily/unhappily ?) about three years of posts I made to this BB have dissolved into cyberspace. :)

Hold the sarcasm, s'il vous plait.....:)

When I think of some stuff I wish I hadn't posted ... I'm relieved. Hey -- you've still got over a thousand posts!

Orcrone
June 24th, 2004, 10:28 AM
I don't understand but my message count actually went up by about 40 posts.

sail7seas
June 24th, 2004, 10:29 AM
You must have gotten some of Tom's and mine. :) I think I lost about 4,500......whoa!!

At least seaching should be easier now.

tomc
June 24th, 2004, 10:35 AM
I lost 4,512. Those are message board posts, not dollar bills, peoples' lives or chances to make love with beautiful models. Keep it in perspective. ;)

I'm down to only 84 postings. Maybe they are trying to tell me something.

Yes they sure are Sage, "Type More!"
We will have plenty to type about in anticipation of the 11/05 cruise!
Get busy now.......

I would not mind if I got some of your s7s. I definitely would not want to be credited with the posts of some people. You have definite opinions about controversial subjects, but I haven't seen you put people down for having different opinions.

sail7seas
June 24th, 2004, 10:59 AM
I'm not exactly in a deep, dark depression over it. :) Just a lighthearted comment.

I'm not threatening to slit my wrists......perspective is my "middle name."

Sorry if anyone took it more seriously than I intended.

Marc....Thank you. I have fun here; I have strong opinions about just about everything in life; :) I always try to make it clear I respect others' opinions.

:) .....even if they are wrong. ;)

Well, I really like the fresh look. I'm anxious to find the time to do a little experimenting with the new features. Looks like about 2,500 of my posts are only memories.

I sure didn't take it seriously. Just a chance to make a saucy post. Gotta get the count back up there.

S7S....

I have only been around a short time but it would be a shame to lose many of your posts, because they have been very valuable to myself and many of us here.

You have always been very generous with your knowledge and advice.

Hell, if I had 4,512 chances to make love to a super model I would never have time to cruise , and if I was on a cruise I would never leave my balcony
*LOL*

IMHO..It's quality not quantity that counts.

I am not worrying too much about my post count.

So, I guess Tatka is trying to tell me something :)

Thank you, Vicar. What nice thing to say. I appreciate it.

Since this is my first posting on the new boards, I have yet to see how many posts I have lost.

This morning on the old board I had 2786.

How funny, s7s even though you may have lost your count; we all know how much help you have been. That can never be taken away.

Just think of all of the threads we are happy that are gone........tipping, what to wear, chlidren etc.......

So true

Everyone remembers your kindness, no matter what number is next to your name .

Besides whats the big deal about 3 years getting shaved off. Don't you women all lie about your ages anyway *LOL* Just teaseing.

Besides whats the big deal about 3 years getting shaved off. Don't you women all lie about your ages anyway *LOL* Just teaseing. So that explains the average age of HAL PAX being 29.

As S7S gets older,
She says "I'm not older, just bolder."
Then Ocrone says, "Fine; you're just 29."
And Vicar replies with a snicker.

Finally paid attention to the numbers - lost 2680 posts.

I'm personally not losing sleep over losing old posts. It would make more sense to purge them out anyway after one year unless its information imporant to focused topics such as ports of call. There's lots of chit-chat that really can just be purged after a while (just as guilty here). It would keep the board refreshed.

Sorry.. I just think it's humorus reading posts from those making an issue out of loosing their "count". the number of posts & the length of time someone has participated doesn't really mean a hill of beans except to the poster.

By the way, what is "quick reply?" I'm not just frantic. Apparently, I'm confused as well.:pThe pad on the lower right portion of each post is 'quick reply'. If you click on it it does several things different:

1. It opens up a smaller box at the bottom that lets you see the thread above.
2. It doesn't allow as many options for the post (e.g. color)
3. Each individual post has a 'quick reply' whereas there is only one 'post reply' at the bottom of the thread

Topless deck, indeed. DH better not get any notions of "sightseeing" up there.....he'll be doing that swim along with Marc.......IF HE"S LUCKY and I don't kill him entirely.

Orcrone... (Usually I get people's names right)

How do you come up with these things? I'm impressed.

I don't know. They just pop into my head; takes about a minute or so to write them. I also put captions on newspaper photos -- speech balloons over people's heads, the things they really are saying but you just can't hear. My friends love it and my enemies get a chuckle out of it, too

Orocone, so this is a quick reply? Did I get it?

sail7seas
June 24th, 2004, 04:15 PM
Sure, why not!! It would be a shame for it to stay empty.

But, Orcrone, you underestimate me  I would never kill him until the END of the cruise....geez, you think I'm 'gonna' miss out on the cruise? :D

After all these years together, I'd be kind to him and let him have his cruise seeing as it would be his LAST!! ....then he'd "pay the piper".

S7S - it's hard to believe you ended up with over 1000 posts since they only carried over the last three months and most of this board got lost. I went from somewhere over 3000 to a little over 300 and I have two active roll calls going so I've been posting quite a bit.

I thought it was cute this morning when I was a Senior member and my good friend Ray was a junior cruiser. Although I do qualify as a gray-hair, he is older!

I think these new boards will be good when we get used to them.

Thanks for Laura and Walt and everyone at CC for giving us such a nice place to "play".

Well Iluvcruzin, my cruise on the Maasdam was in Sept of '01 and I took much time and effort to share (type in each and every word) some of my menus and daily papers here on the board with those who were interested. (especially first time HAL cruisers) Not to mention my cruise review. I know that before my first cruise on HAL I read every post that pertained to My Maasdam, My itinerary, and My ports. So I for one see a great loss by loosing many of the posts. The chit chat I don't mind disappearing, but the reference materials are a great loss because I relied so heavily on them to plan my own cruise. When used correctly, this whole board is a library in itself.

Never Mind about those 3 years. I know that in that time you have taught me so much. You are still ahead of us even though it is only since April.

I agree with you on the reference material Mariposa.. It is a great loss. What I meant about being humorous was that many were complaining before the board switch of loosing their posts like it was some sort of trophy they earned for posting a whole lot.. Like the blue ribbon.. Not funny to lose information of valuable interest. You can move your information over manually by cut & paste. It's not too late! Put it in a new thread so the search feature can find it (new search is working - woo hoo!!).

I have also been a participant for 4 years. this means more htan the number of posts. I also think that we all get to know those people that make a real contribution to the group !
On both Celebrity and Princess there are now a few people who are very transparently posting *bump* or just an emoticon time after time after time after time without adding anything to the group. I guess boostng their number of posts is what counts to them rahter than helping fellow posters. This is the downside of rewarding people for number of posts.

Sail,

It was a small joke, no offense intended! I'm not exactly young myself! It just took me longer to get hooked on cruising! My husband wanted VERY MUCH to go on a cruise for our honeymoon. I resisted for quite a while. I told him I had seen the Posidien Adventure WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAYYY to many times (which I think was true, btw!) But he kept talking about it, and started doing research. Well, he got me excited about it to, so I said ok...and the rest is history....now I am a very VERY "openly addicted to cruising"!!!!!!!

I'm not complaining about losing 3 years of anything. Most of the time, you have to pay a plastic surgeon a lot of money to do that!

I love the new features!! So I guess it's worth it!!

All I have to do now is figure out how to use them!! :D

People, people - why pick on Sail? She has been an avid poster for many years. She has given much advice and shared many a story. Why the "dis"?

So what if we now only go back a few months? She was a Blue Ribbon poster before the change - I'd comment about the lost posts too. Give credit where credit is due. Let's not be petty. I am new to these boards, no doubt. I love to hear about the experiences of those who have traveled far more than I.

Sail - keep posting - we love your informative posts.

I don't think "over the hill" is what you meant. In the context of this board, "over the falls" might be more apt.
