We have just booked a fabulous cruise on the Nautica for April, 2008. It leaves from Hong Kong and finishes in Athens via Vietnam, Bangkok, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, India, Oman, Jordan, Egypt and the Suez Canal.

We are looking forward to trying Oceania. We love the smaller ships having sailed on the Tahitian Princess and HAL's Prinsendam. We are also cruising on the Pacific Princess and returning to the Tahitian Princess next year so will know the layout of the Nautica off by heart.

We would love to hear from anyone who has been on the Nautica. We have sailed over 100 days on HAL and also on Princess so am looking forward to a new experience.

If you will check "Find a Review" on the Home page of this site and click on both "Nautica" and Insignia" you will find two thorough reviews I have written on these ships; one on Nautica's Istanbul > Athens cruise in May, 2006 and the other on Insignia's March 2005 Amazon cruise from Manaus to Barbados.
There will be some duplication of course on ship description, but we had two different staterooms, and the cruises were very different in itinerary.
We have sailed on both HAL (14 days) and Princess (24) days, as well as 69 days on Celebrity and 42 days on Crystal, Carnival, Commodore, RCCL and NCL, in addition to our 27 on Oceania, so we think 176 days gives us some experiece.

Liat,

Besides your two reviews, Carolyn Spencer Brown, the editor of Cruise Critic has written a very long detailed review of the Nautica.

My husband and I are seasoned cruiser and traveled this past September on the Nautica from Istanbul to Athens. We love the ship, the service and the dining services.
We had a room with a balcony which was delightful especially on sea days. The room, although not as large as those on HAL, are lovely and the cabin was kept in tip-top shape. Lots of lovely towels, fluffy robes and slippers. We booked serveral dinners in the smaller dining rooms and the food and the service were terrific. On days when we were on shore and did full day excursions, we used the self-service dining and it was always a pleasure. The main dining room is lovely, china and tableware are top notch, food is excellent and always good company.
In several ports, we booked private guides and vans with two other couples and in others either used the ship's offering or just walked around on our own.
If you are interested, I have posted lots of photos on Webshots in the travel category.
Best wishes for a wonderful trip.

dorothynal,

Thanks so much for your detailed reply. We are have booked a concierge cabin and are so much looking forward to this itinerary.

I do have one question. Does Oceania have laundry packages. We usually send our clothes out to be done rather than spending time in the laundry so would appreciate hearing anything about this side of cruising. As it is a 35 day cruise, we will be using this aspect a lot.

Hi Jennie

Would you mind sending me a message re where you booked Nautica? I was all ready to book the Asian one on March 24th 2008 but my US agent says Oceania has joined a growing list of cruise lines that only accept bookings through US travel agents from people with US residency.

All the best for X'mas to you and Peter.

Cheers
Michael
