I have an answer to the question about under 21s cruising on their own.
We received our latest copy of Funside News in the mail today and the big feature is the introduction of Pacific Dawn to P&O service. The first series of cruises are listed including two cruises departing Sydney on 23rd November 2007 (W736N) and 7th December (W737N). There is a footnote at the bottom which says......
"Passengers aged under 21 years on cruises W736N and W737N must travel in the same cabin as their parents".
These two cruises are the two cruises that are replacing the cancelled Schoolies cruises. And I'm guessing the under 21 restriction is to stop school leavers who had been booked on the cancelled schoolies cruises from rebooking complete cabins. Since some school leavers in Victoria & NSW (and possilbly other southern states, but not in Queensland) will be over 18 at the end of Year 12, they would generally be able to meet the normal requirement of having at least one person over 18 in the cabin. Not many school leavers will be 21, or will want people older than 21 to accommpany them.
It's actually quite good thinking by P&O to make sure that it doesn't became a Schoolies cruise anyway.
There is no mention about this Under 21 rule applying to any other cruise.
So Sam, you should be right to go on your New Year's Cruise without a problem :)
