I'm interested in pre-purchasing some casino chips for our upcoming HAL cruise. If I don't use them, can I turn them into cash? Or do they just get credited to my ship board account?

I did this for my DW on our first cruise. There was a voucher in the cabin which she took to the casino cage and turned into chips. There were none left to answer the second part of your question, but one may turn them back into cash at the casino cage if one has any left.:)
This was on Maasdam in 2004 so it is probably still the procedure. If not, someone with more current info will correct me.
