I was looking on the HAL site at my upcoming cruise. They have all four dining times listed as 'WAIT LIST'. How can that be?

Orcrone, I don't know how that can be, but, I found the same thing after booking my cruise. Very unusual considering they were still selling cabins.

I have seen this many times. I think they wait list it when it hits a certain number. Maybe it gives them room to juggle things around.

Obviously they know everyone has to have a dining time, but this gives them a little flexibility. The last to book the cruise have little choice. Hopefully, they consider if they are "big time repeaters" and should get some consideration in trying to accomodate their desires.

Perhaps Hal is reluctant to confirm too many reservations for other classes of cabins till all the suites have been sold? Just a thought.
As I understand it, suite passengers are assured a preference as one of their perks.

I have usually been waitlisted and yet have always gotten the dining time I asked for. I wouldn't worry about it; it's probably that they're not willing to commit to one or the other until they have a full passenger list.

I'm not worried, just wondering. I confirmed with my TA the time and table size we requested.

I am sure it is not like our Alaska cruise last year on Amsterdam when we had 1700 people on a ship designed for 1300. There were not enough seats in the dining room for everyone and a good number were seen roaming the floor, kids in tow, looking for seating. One poor woman with an infant in her arms, was trailing two kids around for at least 45 minutes while they attempted to locate the assistant dining room manager who finally appeared. And, this was a formal night. We did not go back to the dining room for the rest of the cruise.
