We are first time cruisers and not familiar with the boarding process.

We are driving to port and I wondered how luggage is handled. Is it the same as flying where you check you big bags and keep your carry ons with you?

I read that the checked baggage is delivered to the cabin but didn't know if that only applied to those who used HAL transfers to the ship.

Thanks.

There will be people (stevodors) by the curb when you get there. Give them all the big bags, plus a tip. You will see your bags outside of your room later (sometimes several hours later). Keep your carry-on with you. Ensure that you have any of your meds and a swimsuit packed in carry-on. Then you go in the terminal and go throught the check-in things. Get on ship, sometimes you can drop your carry-on bags off in your room right away. Go have lunch and start to enjoy yourself. Life boat drill depends on what ship you are on but generally is around 4-5 pm.

Don't forget to put your luggage tags on your bags before you give them to the Stevodors. They will also direct you to parking. Enjoy your cruise.

Luggage handling on HAL is excellent. We have always had our luggage well before 4:00 and almost always within 1 1/2 hours of boarding the ship.
